Sprint Firing Up WiMAX in New York City

Some HTC Evo 4G users are seeing 4G reception in New York City, even though Sprint's WiMAX network has not officially launched there yet. Engadget confirms that one of their own Evo 4G units was able to pick up a 4G signal in Midtown Manhattan, which corroborates reader reports. No data service was yet available, but their Evo 4G did display a 4G network connection icon. Sprint had announced earlier this year that its WiMAX network would be active in New York City this year.

Did you see the part in the article where it says "cooberates readers reports"? As in other people are confirming it, not just Engadget.

What did Engadget ever do to make you not trust them?

Don't be too critical. I live in Rochester NY. Projected launch of WiMAX is Middle of July. However, there are indeed 3-4 towers up and running for testing puposes. My Evo not only picked up the 4G signals, I also averaged 4.2Mbs in these areas. This ...

I wonder how well Wimax works in the tall high rise and skyscrapers of NYC

50, 60, 70 floors up, I wonder how well Wimax works. I'm not rich enough to live in NYC.
I dunno ask Donald Trump he probably got a Gold Plated Evo!
