EU Investigating Qualcomm Over Antitrust Claims
Jun 17, 2010, 9:07 AM by Eric M. Zeman
The European Union is in the preliminary stages of investigating antitrust claims made against Qualcomm by U.K. chip maker Icera. Icera makes chips for wireless dongles and doesn't agree with "the way Qualcomm links the patents from other companies to its own patent offering." Icera believes Qualcomm's behavior is anticompetitive. Qualcomm confirmed that it is under investigation, and is currently reviewing the allegations. Qualcomm has already been probed by the EU over similar claims, which led to a settlement with a number of companies, including Broadcom, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Nokia and Panasonic.
