Beginning today, most U.S.-based Starbucks coffee shops will offer customers free access to Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi network is run by AT&T, and previously required a registered Starbucks card to access.

I've Always Wondered...
...How many people actually make use of WiFi at places like Starbucks and McDonalds? These are places whose entire business model is based on getting people in and out as fast as possible.
For my job I travel quite a lot, and my office will not provide an aircard to take with me. So I use free Wi-Fi all the time. Go in grab a drink or snack and set up shop for a few hours. For me this is great news.
I use Starbucks' Wi-Fi 3 or 4 time per week, in NJ, NYC, SF, wherever I travel. It has been a great place to access the net and work for me for years now. Even though I have a MiFi, Starbucks Wi-Fi was always better.
Actually, quite a few. It is common in NYC to see all available sitting locations at Starbucks occupied by people with laptops.

Someone's gonna sue you AT&T!
Because you're the ONLY cell phone company providing free wi-fi and the signal won't reach my house three blocks away from starbucks and I feel like I'm entitled to free AT&T Wi-Fi everywhere I go.
I can't believe AT&T has an exclusive deal with Starbucks, its absolutely outlandish and should be stopped. Unlock Starbucks for ALL carriers!!

It says the wifi is provided by AT&T. It doesn't say only AT&T customers can use it.
