Microsoft Licenses ARM Technology
Jul 23, 2010, 7:22 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Microsoft has agreed to license processor technology from ARM. Microsoft has used ARM's technology for years, but this new license will allow Microsoft to access ARM's inner processor architecture and not individual ARM products. "With closer access to the ARM technology we will be able to enhance our research and development activities for ARM-based products," Microsoft General Manager KD Hallman said. Microsoft didn't specify any products in which it plans to use ARM technology, but ARM's architecture can be used in smartphones, such as Windows Phone 7 devices. Terms of the agreement weren't disclosed.
