Research In Motion today confirmed reports that it has purchased business application developer DataViz. RIM said in a prepared statement, "RIM has acquired some of the assets of DataViz and hired the majority of its employees to focus on supporting the BlackBerry platform. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but the transaction was not material to RIM in the context of RIM's financial results." DataViz is known for its mobile Documents To Go software, which lets a number of smartphone platforms access and edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.

Great..

I wonder what this means for the current Dataviz products for other smartphones, like Android... I wonder if they'll drop support for everything besides BB...?
That would be pretty stupid and shortsighted wouldn't it?
