Wal-Mart today launched its own post-paid wireless service in a partnership with T-Mobile USA called Wal-Mart Family Mobile. The service, which will be available from Wal-Mart in addition to the Common Cents and Straight Talk pre-paid plans, offers customers unlimited calling and texting for $45 per month for the first line, and $25 for each additional line. Data and international calling will, however, be charged from a pre-paid account attached the the family plan. The Associated Press reports that 1GB of data, which would be accessible by all members of the family plan, will cost $40 per month. Unused data will be carried over month-to-month. Despite being a post-paid service, Wal-Mart Family Mobile will not require a contract or credit check. Wal-Mart will offer five phones for the Family Mobile service, including the Motorola Cliq ($250). Wal-Mart Family Mobile phones will be locked to Wal-Mart, and can't be used with T-Mobile's branded services, despite the fact that T-Mobile is providing the network services behind Wal-Mart's family plan. The plan and phones will be available starting Monday, September 20, in most Wal-Mart stores across the U.S.

another thought...

so how does this work, post paid with no contract/credit check. what happens if you go over 1GB and what about unlimited data? do you have the post paid luxury of wiggle room during billing cycles?

There is no unlimited data option. 5 cents per MB after your data bucket expires. Better make sure you don't go over! 🤤

Better Plan Ahead

i wonder if wal marts going to like having pissed off people coming back to the store wanting to know what route to take with a broken phone

or if its a manufacturers problem, have the customer mad that they wont replace it there and have them one mailed to their house

they better have their reps in the electronics store be able to know what to do

Question and postulation

So will the big guys pull out of walmart instead of competing on their turf? Probably not.

I would bet this has been wal-marts plan all along. Get ppl in to get free phones that other providers sell, then when traffic gets high enough sell it themselves.

I pray they do their own tech support and customer service! Other T-mo reps you will feel some pain.
