Sony Ericsson has announced that it has no plans to develop any new products using the Symbian Foundation operating system, according to Bloomberg. The Sony Ericsson Vivaz, recently launched on AT&T, is a Symbian phone, and Sony Ericsson used to pioneer a Symbian interface design, UIQ, that competed with Nokia's S60 interface. Sony Ericsson has not left its position on the Symbian Foundation. Symbian remains the world's biggest-selling smartphone system with a declining 41.2 percent share of the market, mostly on the strength of Nokia's sales leadership. Sony Ericsson also produces smartphones that use Google's Android, and the company has created Windows Mobile smartphones in the past.
