The FCC has outed an unusual new device from Motorola, the Motorola i886. The device looks like a quick messaging phone, with a 12-key number pad up front and a 4 row QWERTY keyboard tucked away underneath. The design is popular among feature phones, but this would be the first Android smartphone with such a form factor. The user manual on the FCC site seems to show an Android interface, complete with Android-style Home and Menu buttons. Of course, the user manuals manufacturers submit to the FCC may not reflect the final shipping product. The phone's name, i886, fits with Motorola's naming scheme for iDEN devices, so this phone could appear on Boost Mobile or Nextel.
