Yahoo has released new versions of its Yahoo Messenger instant messaging software and Yahoo Mail for the Android platform. The new version of Messenger adds a number of features, including video calling. Yahoo says the users can start video chats on their PC and then transition them to their Android device. Yahoo has also improved the photo and video sharing features of IM, and now syncs Yahoo contacts with the native Android contact application. Enhancements to the Yahoo Mail application include the ability to link multiple Yahoo accounts and a new stand-alone photo gallery that lets users scan through images in their inbox without opening the individual messages. Video chat requires Android 2.2, and is initially being supported on the EVO 4G and the myTouch 4G. Yahoo will add support for more devices over time.
