AT&T today announced that it has completed its acquisition of SLO Cellular and now counts SLO's former customers as its own in San Luis Obispo County in California. AT&T plans to upgrade the existing cellular network in the region, as well as turn on 850MHz coverage to increase capacity. AT&T said the former Cellular One customers will be able to keep their existing numbers, and starting November 18 will have access to select handsets for free.

How close...

...does this put AT&T's subscriber numbers to Verizon's? It has got to be nearly neck and neck by now.
last article I saw had 91 million for at&t, I'm not sure how many vz has.
You greatly overestimate the population of San Luis Obispo County, let alone the subs of Cell One of San Luis Obispo. This transaction might have added 100,000 to AT&T's rolls.
