LG Plans to Restructure
Nov 30, 2010, 11:08 AM by Eric M. Zeman
LG Electronics today said that it plans to reorganize its internal structure over the coming months. The most significant change is that LG will eliminate its Business Solutions Unit, which was responsible for selling monitors, hotel TVs and digital signs. This will leave four major units remaining — Home Appliance, Air-Conditioning and Energy, Home Entertainment, and Mobile Communications — each of which will also undergo changes. The plan follows LG's recent 99% drop in profits, according to its more recently quarterly filings, part of which can be attributed to waning interest in LG's handsets in the U.S. and European markets.
