Skype Expands Skype Access Program
Feb 14, 2011, 1:27 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Skype today announced a significant expansion of its Skype Access service by partnering with a number of Wi-Fi hotspot providers. Skype Access, which allows Skype users to access the internet at mobile hotspots by using their Skype Credits, is now available at some 500,000 locations — including 500 airports and 30,000 hotels — thanks to new partners BT Openzone, Fon, M3 Connect, Row 44, Skyrove, Spectrum Interactive, Tomizone and Vex. Rather than pay the hotspot provider directly, Skype Access charges much lower rates. Skype users can connect and then make Skype calls and video chats from these access points.
