Hands-On: HTC Desire S

Here are our first thoughts about the HTC Desire S. It may not be headed to the U.S. in its current form, but it's a nice mid-range Android device.

The Desire S is a smaller device than the Incredible, and is a true sequel to the original. It has unibody aluminum construction which really gives the handset a quality feel to it. The smaller footprint makes it comfortable to hold and use, and it will easily slip into a pocket.

With the aluminum design, HTC is forced to make some changes to how it might otherwise position things such as the volume keys. I am partially in love with the metal design. I heart metal.

The display is a smaller 3.7-incher than the Incredible S's, but it offers the same resolution. It also uses a super LCD, and looks bright, colorful, and sharp.

The user interface felt speedy with the 1GHz processor, and I noticed no lag in the pre-production units HTC had on hand.
