Cingular Wireless and Vodafone both submitted $35 billion bids to buy AT&T Wireless by Friday's deadline. Nextel and NTT DoCoMo declined to participate, making the event a two-horse race. The bidding continued over the weekend, with both companies raising their bids to an estimated $38 billion on Sunday. Negotiations continue. AT&T Wireless has given itself two weeks to choose a buyer, although sources say an announcement could come sooner.
