American Express and Payfone today announced a new partnership that the two companies hope will help them create a new mobile payment system. Under the terms of the agreement, American Express will incorporate Payfone's mobile authorization and payment services with its own Serve mobile payment platform. Once the systems are integrated, consumers should be able to purchase goods online by using their mobile phone number during the checkout process. Users of the service should also be able to link their Serve account with their wireless account. The companies didn't indicate when they expect the service to launch.

why?

I already have an account set up with Verizon. Just tap pay bill, and its done. Why do I need this? Just one more person to screw something up. And I don't want them in my account, bank or phone.
What feature with verizon is that. Ive never heard of it. I would def. be interested in setting that up for myself. thx
