Motorola Decides to Stay in Chicago
May 6, 2011, 12:57 PM by Eric M. Zeman
Motorola Mobility today announced plans to keep its headquarters in Libertyville, Illinois. The company had been considering a move to California or Texas. One reason Motorola decided to stay is because the governor of Illinois enacted new legislation providing tax relief to businesses based in the state. Twitter forced a similar action from the City of San Francisco last month. It threatened to move its headquarters from the city proper due to the expense of certain business taxes. The city changed its taxing policy and Twitter decided to remain in San Francisco.
