Apple today announced that founder and long-time CEO Steve Jobs is resigning from his post at the helm of the company and will be replaced by Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook. Steve Jobs will serve as Chairman of the Board, and Tim Cook has been added to the board. The change is effective immediately. In a prepared statement, Art Levinson, a member of Apple's board, said, "Steve's extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple and guided it to its position as the world’s most innovative and valuable technology company. Steve has made countless contributions to Apple's success, and he has attracted and inspired Apple’s immensely creative employees and world class executive team. In his new role as Chairman of the Board, Steve will continue to serve Apple with his unique insights, creativity and inspiration." No reason for the change in leadership was given, but Jobs has been on a leave of absence since early this year due to poor health. Jobs took a similar leave of absence in 2009.

The True Genius of Steve Jobs
But he knew how to dumb down technology and make it simple for the novice with sleek packaging, LIMITED options so the user couldn't screw it up, a steep price tag to appeal to the elite (or those who don't know any better) , and a crackerjack marketing team that could resell you the same outdated crap that you just shelled out $500 or more 8 months ago and simply because it looks slightly different with a prettier packaging YOU WANT IT and your "old" one gets sold on Craigslist for a fraction of what you paid for it.
To add, if truth in advertising was applied, the crack pot Apple marketing team would be forced to stop using the ...

Apple Isnt All Steve.
Yes. Steve Jobs brought back leadership that was lost in a dying company. However, nothing has changed from the way Apple has historically operated in the past up to today. What HAS changed, is the generation. A society that views Apple as a new start up company. A society that is unlike how I felt about Apple back then.
The highly proprietary software, hardware and accessories coupled with iron clad restrictions, led our generation to move to a more catered lifestyle of choice. The freedom to mix and match these choices.
What has brought Apple to where it is today? The cross between brilliant mar...

Leading Innovation?
Apple makes great products, like the iPod. The iPod is hugely innovative. It still is, and it was when it was released, however, for apple to brand itself the "Leading" innovator? That is a farce. Innovation through technology means options. Options are Not what is available with most of apples products, this includes iOS, and the iPhone more specifically.
Innovation means using old, and new technology to create products that can do more than what you are expecting, and surprize you at the same time.
The only surprise I got out of the iPhone was how locked down it was, likewise the iPad.
They should stop being so full of themselves. Now that Steve has stepped d...

Jobs' Letter to Apple's Board of Directors
To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank...
