LightSquared Attempts to Make Nice with GPS Industry

LightSquared has presented another revision to its Long Term Evolution 4G network plans to the Federal Communications Commission in order to appease the concerns of the GPS industry. Under its latest proposal, LightSquared said it will further reduce the power used to run its L-band LTE network, which would provide more protection for GPS devices. GPS industry representatives reacted favorably to this change, though the proposal still needs the blessing of the FCC. At the same set of hearings, government agencies reported that LightSquared's use of L-band spectrum could also interfere with storm tracking technology.
