HTC: No Operating System Announcements Just Yet

It recently came to light that HTC has given thought to purchasing a mobile operating system to use in its smartphones. Speaking in an interview with the Economic Times of China, HTC co-founder and chairwoman Cher Wang said, "We have given it thought and we have discussed it internally, but we will not do it in impulse." HTC uses Google's Android platform, Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 platform, and Qualcomm's BREW MP platform in its smartphones and other devices. "We can use any OS we want," Wang continued. "We are able to make things different from our rivals on the second or third layer of a platform. Our strength lies in understanding an OS, but it does not mean that we have to produce an OS." In response to press coverage of Wang's statements, HTC issued a more general alert to media today explaining that the company is always looking at the best way to deliver a strong software and hardware experience to its customers. HTC said, "We are always evaluating opportunities to enhance that experience through innovation and partnership; however, we have no announcements about our platform strategy at this time."

It can be done, I have a TouchPad aside from lacking an external camera, its is pretty decent. If it had a cheaper price point and more...
