Apple's board of diretors today issued a statement announcing the death of former CEO Steve Jobs. The statement said, "We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today. Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts." Jobs was largely responsible for bringing products such as the iPhone and iPad to market. He was 56 years old.

Team,

I have some very sad news to share with all of you. Steve passed away earlier today.

Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.

We are planning a celebration of Steve's extraordinary life for Apple employees that will take place soon. If you would like to share your thoughts, memories and condolences in the interim, you can simply email rememberingsteve@apple.com.

No words can adequately express our sadness at Steve's death or our gratitude for the opportunity to work with him. We will honor his memory by dedicating ourselves to continuing the work he loved so much.

Tim

what happen to apple now ?

They will be good for a while but the magic is loss
R.I.P steve
considering Apple has been run by Tim Cook and Cook making all the decisions for the last few months..I'd assume just fine. Tim Cook has been around with Steve for some time..they will be perfectly fine.

Diretors?

🙄

Now, I've never heard of a "board of diretors." What do they talk about on that board? Was he the chairman or CEO of the "board of diretors?"

Spell "directors" correctly, edit before you post articles especially when you're talking about the death of the worlds greatest innovators.

Thanks

RIP Steve

No matter how you feel about Apple, the world lost a cool computer guy.
Yep indeed.
😳 this is a sad day in technology..
Agreed. While I was never an Apple fan, I did follow Jobs and his passing feels the same to me as when Jay Minor died back in the 90's.
He was a great marketer and businessman ☹️

He will be greatly missed.

He created much more than a brand with Apple and the iPod. He changed the way we connect, communicate, and live.

The kinds of mobile devices available would be significantly different if not for the iPod and the iPhon...

He will be missed.
We lost a genius, a great marketer. Not only he literally saved Apple's life, he innovated the world around us! Imagine what would have happened in the technology world if we didn't have iphone and ipad? R.I.P, Steve! 😢

Well said 😎
Steve Jobs revolutionized the world of technology and shaped where we are today (not just in terms of phones). He will be greatly missed by millions.

See you in the iClouds, Steve. 😢
Steve Jobs may be gone but he will never be forgotten just like every great person who passed away. He transcended Apple and technology, he was an American Icon.

To Be Honest...

...I always considered him to be an arrogant ass. I could never listen to him speak for more than two minutes.

However, there's no denying he had intelligence, vision, and courage. Despite the reputation, innovation wasn't his strength. He was more about putting existing products together into clean, efficient packages and marketing them well.

The one area that I haven't seen mentioned here is his huge impact on the entertainment industry.

One word: Pixar.

In light of Mr. Jobs death...

I'm done with the Apple bashing on this forum. It was fun while it lasted but it's getting old.

Whether you loved or hated him, there is simply no denying that Steve Jobs was an impressionable figure. He helped turn Apple around and made it into what it is today. You got to give the man credit where credit is due. I'll confess to having a love/hate relationship with Apple.

Having said that, I'm retiring this name on here. It was fun fighting with justfine, bluecoyote, etc. but I'm done.

For the record, I never really hated Apple. I just liked pushing peoples buttons.

I really do hate Sprint though. They can sink just like the Titanic.

I believe you meant impressive, not impressionable.

There Will Never Be An App For This.

Death is imminent. We cannot avoid it. But to be removed so early in life, only reminds us that, our priorities should never be compromised. Whether we liked Steve or hated him, his dedication and priority towards Apple Inc, has proved to create a success story. His tenacity and technical prowness was masterful and vibrant. However, His talent didn't stop there. He also showed the world the power of marketing and how to attract immeasurable interest in a product. An artist to convey his vision through his art. His love for technology, changed the course of an industry. An industry that has evolved more rapidly then if he had not pursued his passion.

An icon to be struck down so early in life, is never a fate we can honestly wish upon any...
