RIM Adds Gift Requests and Wi-Fi Shopping to App World 3.1

Research In Motion today announced BlackBerry App World 3.1, a new version of the application store that adds a handful of new features. One of the primary new features is the ability to send gift requests to other BlackBerry Messenger users. The updated app store also fully activates the content rating system and associated parental filters. Last, BlackBerry App World 3.1 will now work over Wi-Fi even when there's no 3G network available. RIM said App World 3.1 will become available to users over the next few days, or can be downloaded immediately via App World.

wait, what?

I've never owned a blackberry, but up until now blackberry app world was not avaialble over wifi? That is total crap right there, no wonder RIM is so far behind !
Blackberry App World was always available over Wi-Fi, but the current version doesn't allow a blackberry sitting around with no BIS/BES data plan of some sort from a carrier to access App World over Wi-Fi. Past versions did. Now they have gone back to...
