MetroPCS to Offer VoLTE Phone Later This Year
Feb 23, 2012, 11:53 AM by Eric M. Zeman
MetroPCS's CEO today said that the company plans to offer at least one phone capable of making voice calls on its LTE network during the second half of the year. This will work using using technology called Voice over LTE, or VoLTE, which passes voice calls through the data network instead of MetroPCS's CDMA voice network. MetroPCS also noted that it expects to expand its LTE coverage to its entire service footprint by the end of the year, and will introduce LTE smartphones that cost under $200.
