LA, Houston Hot in Auction 58
Auction day 3, there's something about san diego... and seattle
Metro PCS still has a lock on its top bid for LA at the end of day 3, however the fight for the other top cities continues. Verizon had to increase its bid for Houston in order to maintain control of the lot, while T-Mobile has lost its bid to Cricket. Cricket has lost one of the San Diego lots to Verizon, so the lots are split one each now. T-Mobile has lost one of its Seattle lots to Sprint, splitting the three among Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile.
Looks like Verizon finally woke up and started to throw thier money around, wonder if Cingular will join into the frey..
Day 2 result, the fight for Houston continues
At the end of day 2, after 6 more rounds of bidding. Metro PCS is still the big spender. no one has come close to touching its $375 million bid for Los Angeles. However it has lost day 1's bid for Houston. The war for Houston has heated up. Verizon outbid T-Mobile for the spectrum it was winning in Houston. So T-Mobile turned around and outbid Metro PCS for the other Houston lot. San Diego is moving up in the bid list - apparently Cricket (LEAP) wants San Diego pretty bad. Seattle is also heating up, though not nearly as hot since there are 3 lots there. T-Mobile currently is high bidder on two of the 3 lot. We'll continue to provide a daily summary. Metro PCS
Metro PCS is on to something. Has anyone taken a look at their plans? I know they don't have expansive coverage over the entire us but their plans are so good that people can use them as a home phone, if they get LA & Houston they will really have a huge increase in the population they cover.
MetroPCS may have an unlimited plan but you pay for everything else and coverage is below average. MetroPCS has very bad customer service; poor phone selection; and you have to pay to receive your bill...not to mention having to pay a $3 fee just to ...

Does anybody have a good list (or know where to find one) of the companies that are behind the other company that is doing the actual bidding?
I know I saw a little one when the article from RCR was posted that listed a couple, but I was wondering if there was one that listed everyone (or quite a few).

Verizon And Cigular Sleeping?
Did Verizon and Cingular forget about the auction, or do they just not care enough to compete for the coverage? I'm baffled, both companies claim that they want to increase coverage, but the don't act when they get the chance. 😕

Yea whats the deal with that? Verizon and Cingular have all of the money. You'd think Verizon at least would be tryin to get that contract in an attempt to get back at cingular for stealing their spot on top.

Don't confuse coverage with spectrum. Yes, you need spectrum to provide coverage, but you also need towers, which is whole different issue. And if a company doesn't have enough spectrum in a given area, that's a capacity issue, not coverage.
