Will credit card info remain on phone?

I have a gsm galaxy nexus and love it and I use Google Wallet at least once a day. Any idea what happens to the secure element on the phone and the credit card info I saved on it? Was this erased when I did the update this afternoon or will it remain on the phone until I did a full reset?
I have heard that to make the new version work you'll have to uninstall the old version first. CC info in the new Wallet should be saved in the cloud rather than on the phone. Not sure if this means that you'll only be able to make a payment when yo...

i dont get it.

phones with android is made by google.
so why does google need carriers permission to install wallet?
i want wallet on my att android phoneS, damn it!
