just the software?

so i have a galaxy s II the same model
i have it rooted. in which it has jelly bean 4.1

does this mean it is pretty much the same thing as this?

no, it appears there is upgraded hardware, too. Galaxy S2 Plus is a newer model phone which supports 4G with HSPA+ and has a newer processer and camera, too.

Nice

Very good use of keeping with an already great phone and giving it a makeover without totally overhauling it. No need to have the newest when you can keep with a proven model enhanced
Yeah the GS II has always been a great phone. I have several buddies who have them and they work flawlessly. Honestly, with the price difference and the feature difference, the GS II might be better than the GS III purely on value.

Perfect for ppl who want unlocked, unlimited service

Especially at the lower cost, an unlocked version of the S2+ would be perfect for people who just want a good unlocked Android phone for cheap, so they can get OFF their contract(s) and ON to an inexpensive (but unlimited) plan! Go see how:

cheap is $100.00 or less, I wouldn't call a $250 or $300 smartphone cheap by any means.

Should have been based on T-Mo's version

It had a bigger screen and battery
I like the i9100, and its probably based off of that. As well as having the Exynos CPU. Bought one in the summer of 2011, use it as a swap when i don't care to use my Note 2. I keep an sim adaptor in it.
