Samsung U740 Video Tour

I recently moved into an apartment complex and am not able to receive a signal indoors. I found the external antenna ports and inserted an antenna (bread tie) into the port. Now when i remove the antenna i cannot get service anywhere. Not even in places i should have service.

I was curious would i be able to sync my iCal or Google Calender to my phone's Calender so i don't have to input in two places? Would this cost any data plan money or can i do it through something like bluetooth?

Is there i way i can check my e-mail (google/college mail) through my phone or would that cost data plan/internet time?

HAS ANY NOTICED THAT WITH THE ALIAS SOFTWARE (NOT THE U740)THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE AUTO VIEW (SEEING THE TEXT MESSAGE ON THE FRONT SCREEN). WHEN SET TO AUTO VIEW & THE PHONE CLOSED, IF YOU RECEIVE A TEXT MESSAGE THE PHONE WILL NOT RING OR VIBRATE. I'VE TRIED MORE THAN ONE ALIAS & THEY ALL HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM ON MY SCH-U740. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE HAS NOTICED THIS & ANY POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS.

Has there been any firmware upgrades for this phone? I have the black one, and I wonder if I could take it into the store for a firmware upgrade?

Does anyone know or heard if Samsung is releasing a new u740? The Alias doesn't count. That was barely an upgrade.

I need helping finding a replacement internal antenna for my sch-u740. The part number is BA79B. I have found sites selling replacement parts, but none had the internal antenna. Any help as to where i could look to find this part would be greatly appreciated.

there is a problem with my phone and im wondering if anyone has this problem. ive had this phone since the end of november and just recently ive noticed that when in normal mode the right arrow button, when pressed, makes the keypad dim and when in landscape mode, the up button. has any one else had this issue? if so PLEASE reply

I just watched Phone Scoop's video review, and discovered something that they saw as a fault of the phone that is easily remedied.

They mentioned the fact that it's difficult to text in portrait mode, but also difficult to enter the phone number you're sending the text to in landscape mode.

What they didn't mention, is that you can start your text in portrait mode, enter the number you're going to send it to, arrow down to enter the message, and then quickly flip the phone into landscape mode to enter the text.

You can also set the delay time for the flip so that you don't end up losing any info you've entered. I set mine for 3 seconds, but I probably don't even need that much time.

I would like to know if you have your keypad backlight set to ALWAYS ON, why does it go off during calls? is there any way to change this? When your calling an automated # this is difficult, cause you have to press other #'s while on a call and the keys are too small to see in the dark, when they are not illuminated. can anyone help? thanks

Can I download videos from my computer onto my phone?

well now that i gots me some memory i wanna put some videos from my computer onto my phone. problem is i dont know what format the files should be. can anybody point me in the right direction?

hey maybe i missed it in the info tab but i can't seem to find a place that list the internal memory for this phone. im broke till next paycheck so no memory card just yet but any way, is it 45 megs like they said about the gold version? i sure hope not.

I often see "dummy phones" - the non-working samples displayed in stores with fake screen images - for sale at online auctions for $5 or thereabouts. Which gets me wondering whether I can take apart a real Samsung SCH-U740 phone, remove the keycaps, and install the key buttons from a fake SCH-U740 Alias, the newer version of the same phone.

The reason I'd want to do this is because I much prefer recently redesigned keys, which better distinguish the 12 keys used for voice dialing without making the letters hard to read when turned sideways for QWERTY texting. Note the difference in these pictures:

I'm using the SCH-u740 (not sure if that's the same as the Alias but my phone is about 1 yr old and looks like the model displayed on the info webpage).

I want to start using it as an mp3 player. I bought a 2gb micro SD card, got it formatted, and have the VCAST music manager which I purchased from Verizon. Using either this program or Windows Media Player I am able to get mp3s transferred to the phone micro SD card without any problem.

Now herein lies the problem. I am very particular that I be able to find my mp3s in the phone's menu system, which allows me to lookup the songs by album, artist, or genre. For this reason, I am making sure to fix the mp3 tags before synching them to my cell phon...

Sorry if this is old subject matter and my question is not specific to the SCH-U740......I just got this phone and am happy so far but the ringtones suck. I am looking for a chime type of ring sound or beep that basically sounds once and does not repeat. The single beep option all ready on the phone is barely audible, even at max volume. My cell service is Horizon and I have been unable to find anything in "Get it Now" except for songs and obnoxious flatulence sounds. Any suggestions on where to look? Thanks for your time.

Is the only way to view texts on the external screen is to set the texts for auto view or is there another way to view them on the external screen? Please advise. Thanks.

I am having a problem with my phone powering off during charging. I plug my phone in and after some time it decides to shut off. It does not seem to power down, just switch off and continue charging.

I have contacted Verizon and they replaced the phone stating they have not heard about the problem. The new phone has done the same thing. Samsung says they are not aware of the problem but suggested I replace the charger. Yesterday I replaced the charger and still the same problem.

Verizon now seems to think there may be a software error... but because it is so new they have no other answer. They say when there is a new software update I can bring it in to be updated.

Does anyone else have this problem?
