How do you unlock a phone?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have no idea what people are talking about when they say to un-lock the phone, besides that I can use different company's sim cards...but HOW?
The major carriers worldwide place a SIM Lock on the phone this makes the phones limited to use that carriers network only.

When unlocking the 2 options are just to unlock the Sim so you can use any carrier card but all the software remains the sam...

New "tab top" OS is slow

I just got everything switched from my older version of the N75 on sunday...

and to be completely honest, i was like oh mess... i dont like it.

its way slow, i love the messaging format, having sent and received messages all on one tab... its alot easier to remember what i said 😁 but its slow, when i shut the phone on any tab but home, and then open the phone again it opens up in whichever tab i closed it on, and then takes like 2 mins just to get back to the home screen...

idk how many people have this tab top yet, but im having issues with the fact of how slow the messaging area of the phone is so slow...

Thanks

I unlocked but firmware did not update

I followed these instructions:

http://www.thegogglesdonothing.com/archives/2007/08/ ... »

but the phone still has AT&T characteristics like the login sh*t, etc. I followed the directions to the letter:

"To do this, start the software and hit "Scan" if your phone doesn't show up at first. Then press "Read" to get the current values from your phone. Then check the "Enable" box next to "Product Code," which tells the software that it's only that field you want to modify. Type the new code 0541358 into the box, and hit "Write."

Now we have a phone which is electronically indistinguishable from the $400 unlocked model that Nokia will sell you -- and thus we can use all of Nokia's software update tools to bring it up ...

You must unlock the N75 to make it better!

I unlocked my phone this weekend! I got the code from AT&T after calling them. I recieved the code via e-mail. Then i changed the product code after unlocking the phone. Then i installed the latest firmware. My phone is the sh&t now! It is truly an Nseries device not that Cingular or AT&T crap. Wow! Here is the link I used after unlocking my phone:

Dumb question time. I just got my N75 not too long ago and I'm kindof a rookie. What (besides making it usable with other providers) does unlocking a phone do exactly?

After unlock and unbrand the N75, will Media Net still work? Thank you so much.

To all with unlocked N75

Since this phone has been out awhile now, my question is does unlocking really remedy its quirks? Or did it only initially seem to? I have never unlocked a phone but Im willing to try if its worth it. Otherwise, Im going with the Razar 2. Its sad because I really wanted to be a Nokia fan boy. Lol. Thank you in advance.
Yes, in case you haven't received an answer yet. Unlocking this phone is the only way to go! It not only increased my battery life, but it also added bluetooth stereo streaming to headsets and car stereos. But better than that... it got rid of the at&...

This phone is FRAGILE!!!

I was sitting at my desk the other day with my phone next to me, opened up, when by accident I knocked off the desk onto my hardwood floor. Darn LCD screen inside the phone cracked. I couldn't believe it. The front screen still works though, just can't see anything inside the phone. Phone is about to be sent to Nokia to be fixed. Can't wait to see what that bill is going to be for this. Great holiday gift, huh. Moral of the story: be very careful with your N75. Mine was a refurbished one, don't know if that played a role in this event or not, but don't let that phone fall on anything unless it's as soft as a pillow.
I bought a really nice (and cheap) plastic clip-on cover which should also act to absorb some shock if the phone is dropped (but I don't plan to test it). The cover I bought looks very nice and has a slightly "rubberized" feel to it. Cost all of abo...

Nokia N75 -Problema Configuracion SIP CALL-

Hello, I Need to Know ¿how can I do to configure my nokia N75 to speak for Voip. I have already determined the profile SIP and validates perfectly with the VOIP provider. The issue is that this phone does not bring default option speak for Voip (can be done by installing a client as fring, but quality is lost in the call and resources of the phone), and to finish setting must install a package ofrecia that Nokia is called "SIP_VoIP_Settings_v1_0_en", and this can configured the NAT and Firewall and when you finish doing so I would be giving an option to speak for Voip. The problem is that I could get the tool to configure, but I can also install it does not permit me to "execute". We need to know if someone can give some idea of how to fi...

N75 Battery Issue (More Information)

I've done a little research on the N75 battery issue.

For those who are saying to use the BL-4B battery in the N75 - you are plain wrong. There are many sites out there who are saying it is the correct battery for the N75, but they are wrong. The BL-4B is only rated at 700mAh, while the correct battery is rated at 760mAh. (These are the NOKIA ratings listed for the batteries themselves. Beware, there are incorrect specifications listed everywhere on the net). The BL-4B will fit, and yes it will power the phone - but it has less capacity than the BL-5B.

The BL-5B IS the correct battery for the N75. This gets confusing as Nokia's own web site shows TWO BL-5B batteries (one with the BL-5BT label, the other simply as BL-5B). However, ...

I think you need to double check your research. I have the BL-5BT battery in my phone, and it just so happens to say 800 mAh, just like PhoneArena says, just like this very site says, and just like Nokia's website says. So yes, those who are using a 7...

My Memory

I'm having problems on how do I get my memory usage down. It keeps saying that my memory is low (thats on my phone memory) I have lots of sd memory and idk whats wrong. I tried to delete some files, I even deleted my whole outbox. Whats wrong with it? 👿
The memory that is referred to is not your flash "storage" memory but your system "operating" memory or RAM. I believe that the N75 has ~21MB of RAM available after loading the OS like most S60 phones and is not upgradeable. The N95 ships with 128MB o...

My new Nokia N75

🙄
ok, so I love this phone-- just got it last night, took me forever to figure how to turn it on though after the battery went dead. I am used to my Motorola razor, and kind of miss how easy it was to use--
back to the point
Ummm I like to take my phone to work and with my razor I could just put it on vibrate or silent, but with this new phone, I don't know if I can do that, I have tried to turn the ringer off with no luck, I looked in the manual and played around with it but 😕 its not working...

can anyone help me??

Happy with N75 but perplexed by internal Display problem

I've had my N75 for about 5 months and it has been much tougher and more durable that I believed. I underestimated the N75 in many ways and I love finding new ways that I have. HOWEVER. For the past 36-45 hours the larger internal display has been dark except for a faint glow when viewed from an angle. I am able to make and receive calls and text messages using a series of key strokes that I must have memorized at one point. Tried variations of powering down and backup, no results. Chatted on the at&t tech support forum and they recommended a Master Reset of the device. I have attempted this but my keystroke memory fails at this because it is clear that the phone hasn't reset because it didn't automatically boot.

Has anyone else had a pr...

yeah, i cracked the LCD on mine when i dropped the phone with the fold open. Sounds like you need to send it in to Nokia and have it looked at. It cost me $105 to have my main display LCD replaced and shipped back to me.
If the screen isn't cracked you can just do a warranty exchange by mail and get it replaced for free. If it is cracked, then I'd use your phone insurance if you've got it or, if you don't, then contact nokia as the other person responded. $105 is kind...

apply for a new contract and dump the $199 for it. 🤣 I wonder if that stupid tab top name is just slang for active idle.

RINGTONES

I have just figured out how to place self-made
ring-tones onto my phone. Maybe someone else has figured this out already, but I haven't seen it.

1 Connect phone to computer with USB
2 Set phone to PC Suite

On computer

3 Open Nokia PC Suite
4 Open File manager
5 Open "No Name" file
6 Open Sounds folder
7 Add your ring-tone in the white area below the Digital Folder & the ring-tone is added to your phone
