Republicans Attempt to Defang the FCC

A wolf in sheep's clothing to me. There is the "out" to the ISP's the bulk of which are monopolies or duopolies (broadband & DSL). They just won't be able to "data manage" Netflix or Hulu or Amazon Prime.....well unless if maybe you subscribe to their silver TV package or above at $110+/month. I love the "nothing needs oversight ever & we need little or no government at all, companies will just do the right thing". LOL......OK.....on this planet?? A strong FCC is in OUR interest as consumers & internet pretty much is a utility in 2015 America isn't it?

Their proposal isnt good for the people, it defangs the FCC and still allows for network throttling, but instead of being for clearly defined reasons, its for "data management purposes". Which can be anything the provider says it is, data management is a big wide generic term and since the FCC wont have any power any longer, they wont be able to do anything about it in any case.

The only reason the Pubs are on this path is that Obama wants to make internet a utility which will lead to more rules for the mega-corp monopoly leeches, like you have to have a complaint department and you have to take responsibility when you screw up your customers account and then overcharge them for it, as is current monopoly leech SOP.

In order to ensure the public's airwaves are used appropriately in the rapidly changing economic and technologic landscape in which we live the party that sees no legitimate use for government, other than to keep the war machine well oiled, decided to "restrict the FCC from expanding its authority over broadband companies beyond enforcing existing rules." That ought to help when something new comes up.

Let me get this straight, they're telling corporations to back off and don't tell me what I can, and cannot do with full speed on the internet?



If I am reading this correctly, my mind just LITERALLY exploded, and I need some cleaners to come over here and mop up.

😁 There is way too much Government regulation as it is. I don't want to pay more for my internet just to get to the stuff I want or need. These big companies keep making excuses to try and limit the net as it is. Back in the day everyone was sold on Unlimited Data when the resources were not all in place and the price cost them more to provide. Fast forward to today and you have to pay for the data you are using. The price comes down when the capacity expands but the consumers are having to pay more to get less. The price will always keep going up and the consumers get the short end of the stick. I like the option of shared data if it fits the needs of the consumer but there should be an option for those who need the unlimited data to be ab...
