"couple of bucks" plus your VoIP service?

The UMA service is simply the actual 'switch' from cellular to Wifi, right? you'd still have to pay Vonage, or Skype, or whoever, right?

if this is supposed to fix tmo's coverage issues, it's more of a band-aid to the surgery it needs. it's innovative that they are offering the service, but it seems like a better way of conserving anytime minutes and side-stepping ma bell than fixing coverage issues
T-bobile?

I wouldn't think so. T-Mo is going to be running there own servers on this using Kineto's UMA solution.
what this means is that if you are in a Wi-Fi zone then you will have service and unlimited data (b/c it doesn't cost the company money). This is very innovative, because it means you won't use minutes, you won't lose reception, and you can surf the ...

No, you would not have to use vonage or packet8 (packet 8 is much better quality) at all. You would just need to have a internet connections.
No, you wouldn't have to pay a VoIP provider. T-Mobile is essentially providing that.

You need an Internet connection - you would have to pay for that, but that's it.

I'm not tech savvy, so please excuse the question. What is UMA exactly? I mean what does this mean as far as cell service with TMobile? 🤭
T-Mobile?...Don't you mean T-Bobile??!?

"the phone has been shown with T-bobile branding and appears to be an exclusive for the carrier"

basically this means that your calls will seamlessly switch from your cellular service to Wi-Fi (wireless internet) VoIP (voice over internet protocol). More basically....if you are in a wireles...

UMA Could End Roaming Fees???

With UMA on your cellphone and a UMA enabled wireless router, then wherever in the world you plug in your router you would be "in network" and not be subject to roaming. So you could go on business trip and save yourself huge overseas call fees and switch the sim when you want a local number with the country you are in. Sweet.
It doesn't matter with Tmobile, they have no roaming charges to begin with.
