So arrogant & not accommodating to their customers but what choice do we have??

I'm in Montana & in a NY minute would switch to T-Mobile or Sprint. Problem is, neither has so much as one tower in our state & several surrounding states are very poorly covered by them also. AT&T is OK here but by and far, Verizon is the best. Shame they can't stop the arrogance & have more respect for their customers. 12GB's as the maximum amount of data you can buy for a family to share is pathetic. Upping the per phone charge to $20 from $15 like it is also wrong. With everyone else lowering prices & raising data allotments this is showing zero regard for customers Verizon! Where are you TMO & Sprint, you'd pick up half the state's population if you came here!!!
On the contrary they are doing this because of the demand of their customers. Customers wanted simpler pricing and no more contracts....GUESS WHAT THEY ARE GETTING!!! This will not benefit everyone in every situation. Do the research and see what's be...

I guess no more smartphones for me

My contract is up on the 29th, and I wanted a Galaxy 6, but I can't afford $600.00 for a phone even on payment. We're paying 120.00 a month now for 1 basic phone , tablet and smartphone. This really sucks. I don't really care too much about the data, I don't use it hardly at all but the price for the phone is what gets me. I could pay the $199 for it but not no $600.
So you get 1gig (since data isn't very important)
$30- 1 gig
$20 Smart
$20 Basic
$10 Tablet
$90 Phone Payment for a new GS6 (Around $30) so basically what you pay now and you get a GS6 for $0 down not $200. Math is hard but sounds like you wi...

What happens to other plans?

What happens to 15, 20, 50 GB plans? What happens to inclusive unlimited international texts? Hello!! Back to square one with screwing customers.
That is my biggest question too? 12GB max for a family is pathetic. Hello overages. I cannot wait until T-Mobile & Sprint finally decide to build out their puny networks to match (or try to at least) Verizon's network footprint at some point!

No contracts. No subsides. No value.

Verizon is not showing leadership in the face of competition.
T-Mobile started the "no contract" , "payment plan for your device" deals.
Now , Verizon is just following along.
Not true. The no contract option has always been there. '

The fact of the matter is subsidized cell phones are expensive fore cellco to maintain, The FACT the point of the 2yr contract was to help the company recoup he cost of subsidized equipment....

The Real Facts...

For the record.....YES you can and will be able to get a plan with more than 12gb of data. Also instead of immediately bashing these new plans, look at them do the math consult with someone who has more information than you do and then decide what is best for you. I understand you can not make everyone happy, but as a whole the industry has moved this way due to customers saying they didn't want contract etc. Instead of vilifying these companies for every change they make look into them yourself and get your own information instead of going by some random post in a blog by someone who has no ideas what they are talking about. Unfortunately their are people that this will benefit and some that it will not. With the wide variety of people out ...

Clueless Verizon

So while the rest of the industry gets more competitive Verizon raises prices? So while this will save a little money for people with the 1 and 3GB plans due to the per smartphone access fee going down to $20 from $25 it represents a price increase for most customers above that. Seriously what on earth is Verizon thinking these days? So glad I am still on my grandfathered plan with them back when they were at least attempting to be competitive.
My Parents are with VZW with two lines and 10 gigs and pay around $170 with contract phones.

New plans $108 phones ($80 17% discount $20 $20 )

So as long as they get phones around $30 a month each they will get a better price and 2gig mor...

Larger than 12gb plans

I work at Verizon, and from what I heard today there will be larger than 12gb plans, I don't think they will be hard advertising this mostly because most people/families will be using or shopping for a larger size plan. The 6gb plan will save people money on this plan, even if your on a current 10gb plan it would save money, but if someone was on a 15gb plan or larger I am not quite sure how this would compare with the old family plan. Overall it's bringing down rates (albeit a little) which is something everyone should be happy about.

Why would anyone pick these expensive plans?!!

Even Verizon itself has prepaid plans that are a much better value than these (with no silly "access" fees). And there are plenty of reasonably priced phones out there that don't require a payment plan. I really like Verizon's coverage, but personally, I have been on the ATT Gophone plan, $45 per month all-in, 1.5 GB of 4G LTE data, with all the extras (including visual voicemail and hotspot). It goes down to $40 if you set up autopay. How can you go wrong?

Glad I'm no longer on Verizon

"large" is sharing 6GB of data? Wow. These new plans blow.
