menu settings help
Hello,
my old phone was simple and all that I needed.
I had to get a new one, so got this Samsung M520 ('cause it was refurbished so extremely cheap). I don't need a lot of bells and whistles on my phone, I don't use it too too much.
BUT
I'm having trouble with the menu settings. I don't like the way the menu display is set up (in a grid). I prefer the line menu bar, as opposed to the grid. Is there a way to change this feature on my phone?
I'm not finding any way to do this in the booklet, so I'm hoping they just forgot to include this information...

How to use GPS
It says you can find nearest gas station etc but how the heck do you use it? I activated my locator but see nowhere to actually use GPS?
Thanks for any help.
You have to download the Sprint navigator to your phone. I would recommend getting an unlimited data package because you will rack up charges like crazy. Sprint charges 0.03 a kb. Lets say a picture is 100 kb, your charge for that picture being sen...

Problem w/music store app
An update became available for my phone right around the new year. I literally woke up one morning and the red light was flashing...said to click "OK" to update firmware. I did this. The next time I accessed the Sprint Music Store it asked me to update that software, so I did. After that the Music Store wouldn't load at all. The CSR said my problem didn't fit anything on her solution matrix, so she sent me to a corporate Sprint store, who somehow dumped the app and reinstalled it from a text message 12 days ago. Today I went to access the Music Store again, and got the same message that I needed to update the software, but no matter how many times I click "OK", the update doesn't complete. Once again, I can't access the Sprint Music S...

Terrible luck with this phone.
I first got this phone as a replacement when my LG Muziq broke. I was considering the M520 before getting the Muziq, simply due to the fact that both phones had an MP3 player and supported the Pandora application.
At first, I had problems getting the Pandora app to even connect on the M520. I tried to start up the program every few hours, but it still wouldn't log in. I tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it, but still no go. I checked to see if the firmware on the phone needed updating, but no updates were available. I took the phone back to Sprint, where I was told they would essentially refresh my connection to the network and that Pandora would run in a few hours. The good news is that Pandora worked, the bad news is the headp...

I'm so sorry you're having this trouble. I've had an m520 since last May, and I haven't had any trouble with the headphone/charger jack. I did have a couple of other glitchy issues (I'll post in a minute...don't want to hijack your thread). I have ...

Which one is better? The Samsung m520 or Sanyo Katana 2?
I'm not sure which one to buy? It's a really hard decision. Someone please help me choose. 😁
want Power Vision? Get the M520. Want a solid, great Sanyo phone? Get the Katana II. The Katana is a watered down phone, which doesn't do AS MUCH as the M520, so that's my only beef with the Katana II. Also, I have a Katana and it's starting to crap o...

Themes
Is the m520 ever gonna have themes or did we as Samsung users get gipped? If so I'm seriously considering a change to a Touch Pro.

Beeping with Completed Charge
Hello everyone. I'm thinking about getting this phone but have read a couple reviews that complained about the phone beeping every 15 minutes once the charge was complete. Since I charge the phone while I'm sleeping and keep the phone in the bedroom with me because I don't have any other phone, this will be a big problem if I get the phone. Is there anyway to turn that feature off?
Thanks!
I don't see any way to turn it off...but it's not as often as every 15 minutes that I've noticed, and honestly it's not that loud, either.

camera help!!
i tried to set a picture as my screensaver on my phone, and it said it was out of memory. where can i go to delete pictures stored in my phone? the picture i have as my current screen saver i have deleted off of my memory card but it still is on my phone. how can i delete it??
In the camera menu (pictures) you can click on "my albums" and there's one for the memory card, one for the phone, and one for online albums.

Sending pics to an email address
I just read a review that said it's impossible to send photos to an email address using this phone. Is that accurate? The main thing I do with my current camera phone is upload pictures to my Flickr account via their email address. It's so simple, and I'd hate to use the ability to do this. It would definitely be a deal breaker on my decision to buy the phone.
That's not true.. I've been emailing pics to my email address ever since I got the phone with no problem

Does this phone support a 4gb microSD card?
I'm confused, I've read it only supports 2gb. But then people say it supports 4gb, yet still other people say it can only read 2gb of info off of the 4gb card. Which is it? Does anyone know? Thanks for your help.

Downloading Music
Can i download music from my computer, or can i only download songs from sprint??
If indeed i can download songs from comp, HOW???
Would greatly appreciate some help.
Thanks in advance!
You might be able to do it by Bluetooth...I don't know.
My husband has a card reader for the Micro SD card. It hooks to the PC via USB cable, then he just drags cds (or mp3s) to the card.

Texting
I am very frustrated with the texting. Is anyone else encountering this problem? Lets say i type out a word, right after the word a new word will appear, i can either accept the word or type over it. I have to be real careful when i am sending a text because sometimes i add words which do not make sense.
I tried fixing the problem but haven't seemed to be able to get rid of that.
Can someone PLEASE help me?

Is it free to put music on from your computer
I was wondering if it costs money to put music on your m520 from your computer, and if i need to buy anything that doesnt come with the phone to do so. I just ordered this fone so i havent messed around with it and tried.
There's no charge to use your own music...but you'll need to buy a card reader to transfer it to the Micro SD card.

Nickname feature
I am having a problem with the nickname feature. When I add "pops" to the nickname area of my father's contact profile, and use the voice dial feature, "pops" is not recognized. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem or knows of a fix.

Can you use your own MP3s that you put on the phone as ringers for the Samsung M520?
I am thinking about buying this phone for qwest but id like the be able to make my own ringers. I have the Samsung M500 right now, but I broke the outer screen by standing too close to a fire (oops). Also, would it be a stupid idea to buy a new phone for qwest right now since they will be switching to verizon in october? Does anyone know what's going on with that/what we will have to do with our phones/contracts?
Thanks!

samsung pc studio (music) studio 3.0
does anyone have a copy of this software, or does anyone know if this version or the latest version 3.2? will work with this phone. you can't download from sprint's site since your phone is not listed, and their support said that the software that they have their will not work with this phone. i don't want to change phones (just got this one) and i would like to put mp3's on the micro sd card from my pc. either through my pc or through a cable from my pc to the phone. thanks.
To transfer mp3's I either use a card reader and drag and drop them into the microSD's MEDIA folder or put a copy into my bluetooth information exchanger/ file transfer/file share folder. Then I can "get file" and transfer them via bluetooth. For both...
