How to “compose†a voice message on the Instinct
How to “compose†a voice message.
One of the “hidden†but fun features of the Instinct’s Visual Voicemail is the ability to create a voice message on the phone and send it to another mobile phone or to an email address. You can also send it to multiple recipients at the same time. Here’s how it works:
• From the main screen, press “voicemailâ€Â.
• At the voicemail inbox, press “+†in the upper left corner
• Select a recent contact or press “contacts†to scroll through your contact list to select a contact
• You can also add a recipient by selecting the “Manual Entry†tab and enter the Phone number or the email address of the recipi...

This is cool. I wonder how many other easter egg features does this have? Has anybody found any others?

Nice Phone But Network?
I'm currently a VZW customer with an expired contract.
The Dare doesn't impress me at all so I was about to switch to ATT and the iphone when I happened into the Sprint shop just to see what they have.
The instinct is really a nice phone. Has many of the features I enjoy using a few that are missing from the iphone. But i found that only a landscape keyboard (expect to dial) is awkward at times. That aside I'm pretty sold on this phone.
My problem is with the Sprint network. I live in the DFW metroplex and though the Sprint map coverage shows its pretty saturated I know people who use Sprint and have connection problems.
I'm not a huge fan of ATT and GSM and I have very few issues with VZW network (though VZW prices are way too ...

I have to disagree with your coverage statement in DFW area. While the covereage is spotty... it's sorta spotty for all carriers. Having to travel to dallas area many many times, my Sprint service is usually 99.9% up. The only time I have issues is...

I am not sure why this is but I have found the coverage for the Instinct to be superior to other Sprint phones in the same area.
"But i found that only a landscape keyboard "
Actually, you can make the keyboard either landscape or portrait mode. Furthermore, it has a freehand mode.
Give em' a try, they've got a 30 day trial.
I don't live in the DFW area but I too am giving Sprint a try. I'm currently with AT&T and am also waiting for my Sprint Instinct to show up.
When I activate it I'll ask for a private number and forward...

The Network is fine. One of the problems with the phone is that it has no setting for roaming for most people in the Midwest or rural areas this is a problem. Sprint has great coverage. But if you travel like most carriers not necessarily do you want ...

OK, I bet a lot of us on here are sorta cell phone junkies..we love our gadgets - that certainly includes me.
I might buy and sell a lot of cell phones, but I typically would never jump ship.
Well, I just did! I was with at&t for a very long ti...

New Update
I was just toying with my instinct to see if there was a new software update. Sure enough, my phone started downloading an update. It then shut down and went through this whole 5 minute install and initialization process. My question is, what did this new update do? I don't see any new apps, and I don't see any immediately recognizable changes. Any one else know?

Without an unlimited plan?
Anyone know when we will be able to get this without an unlimited plan?
You will not be able to get one without an Everything Plan.
I don't see much of a chance that Sprint will ever reduce it.
The reason being with a phone like the Instinct, requiring the everything plans actually makes Sprint's life easier. With the PDAs, some idiot will always say they don't want the internet/...

Samsung Instinct
All I have to say is what an AMAZING phone. I have saved so much money to where I do not have to pay for a Walkman, GPS equipment and I do not have to download songs on the sprint website. I can download songs from my PC. I tried it and it WORKS!!!!!!
I have learned that every phone is not perfect but this Samsung Instinct is close to being that.
Cons: Its hard to dial a particular # when driving. The lock button is sometimes a pain in butt.

Phone Lock
I really like the phone and so far I have no problems with the sprint network (leaving alltel) but I absolutely hate the lock on the phone is there anyway to disable the lock it is almost enough to make me take the phone back I dislike it that much
TIA
Yes you can disable it in settings
1. press Main if not already there.
2. Settings - lower right with the pic of gears
3. scroll down to where it says lock
4. Press to enter and you can switch it off here.

Yeah, the Instinct will arrive on Verizon never.

Incoming callers hear music not a telephone ring
I just got my Samsung Instinct and somehow have changed the ringer so when people call they hear a song "fishing in the dark" instead of hearing a normal ring. Any idea how I change it back? Thanks.
I found the answer.....it's something you can subscribe to for an additonal charge. Your provider has to remove it.

150 Song Maximum?!
I recently started getting an error saying I've exceeded the maximum amount of songs. The phone says 150 songs total; however, spring media manager on my phone says I only have 80. Is anyone getting these kinds of errors? Also, will Samsung be releasing a fix for it?
i have a 4gig card and have about 380 songs and about 250 pictures i don't have a problem

RINGTONE HELP......PLEASE HELP.
I usually use "mytinyphone.com" to send links of ringtones as a text message to my phone. After I receive the text message, I open it and click on the link to the ringtone, it downloads, it plays and I save it to my phone. How can I do this with my new Instinct??? Any response is very appreciated.
Ok this is a response. It is not an useful response. Nor is it designed to fix any issue but you did say "Any response is very appreciated." So, I thought I would write this to see if this was indeed the case. 🙂
ok I have the site for you..try myxer.com
IOU can upload your own ringers and download ones on the site already..only thing is sometimes the text message to your phone doesn't work so you can go to wap.myxer.com to download them from your instinct...

Instinct text messaging?
Is there a way text using traditional T9 or triple tap? Keyboard is nice, but I'm much faster using T9.
If it helps at all instead of Landscape mode you can change it to portrait mode.
No T9 on this phone unfortunately

Is a sprint everything plan always going to be required to get this phone or is this just temporary?
We don't know yet, unfortunately. Sorry.

New updates
I keep hearing about all of these new updates for the Instinct that are either out or are coming soon. My question is how do I get them when they come out? Do they just upload to my phone automatically or is there something that I need to do? Thank you.

For those wondering about discounted plans for Instinct
If you are already receiving the 27% discount, then politely request that it continues on the new billing with the Everything Plan. I have stated this a few times but I decided to make a separate post. If, upon activating, the discount doesnt work, then simply EMAIL customer care. Calling customer care is not worth the hassle. If still no resonse, then call the number at BBB. Below is a paste of my confirmed email from online customer care. Online customer care is far more superior than calling customer care. Online customer care can do much more without all the run around that the call centers do.

Just an update. I work for Sprint in an actual corporate store. The discount will apply to the 450 or 900 minute everything plans but NOT the Simply Everything plan.
THIS
"would like to inform you that Simply Everything plan is a basic
necessity for the phone Samsung Instinct to be used"
IS INCORRECT
The Simply Everything plan is NOT a necessity for the Instinct to be used. You can also use either of the...

phone locks when you type...
... me and 5 other frinds phones lock up when you type "townhomes". I called Sprint and Samsung and they have no fix as of yet.. how nice huh??...lol 😕
That is very strange. I even tried typing town (space) homes and then erasing the space and it still did the same thing! I may be returning this phone since the software seems to be very buggy. Have you noticed any other such issues?
I was wondering about that. My phone does the same thing. Is there any other words that makes it lock up? I can just imagine you typing a certain word and a little hand pops out from the phone and tries to wash out your mouth with soap. 🤣

are there any spanish settings on this phone?
Of course there is. Just go to navigation then search then food then Mexican and voila Spanish restaurants 🤣

Traffic not displaying on navigation
Hi All,
I just got my Sprint Instinct on 8/12. When I go into the Sprint Navigation app and then click on Maps & Traffic, the traffic does not show up. I click on the signal light icon and I can see it exchanging data, but the display never updates to show the traffic on the freeways.
Does it work for anyone?
Thanks!
