Review: Nokia E71

Is there anyway to mass delete sms messages in inbox and outbox other then going in options and marking all of them and then going back into options and pressing delete? Thanks in advance.

Just wondering if anyone has gotten a case for their Nokia E71x and how it's worked out? I'm debating on whether to get the rubberized ones or a hard case....? Input appreciated.

I am thinking about getting a nokia e71x and I am wondering if anyone knows if Pandora will work for it. This is a huge part of my descision making process so please let me know.

this is a really quick and simple question. I am looking into the new smartphones and one of my REQUIREMENTS after having a BB and a Treo 680 is threaded text messaging. I text way too much to have to open every message individually. Does the E71x have threads? What about the Samsung Jack?? Anyone know which other smartphones nowadays do threads?? Please let me know ASAP.

I have an issue with my phone where every incoming number has a '1' in front of it as if it were long distance. This wouldn't be an issue, but Nokia's computer software doesn't recognize the incoming number as a contact. This issue was fixed by adding the '1' to my contacts, however, many of my contacts have multiple phone numbers and when I try to set a number as a default for the contact, the phonebook applcation crashes and I can't set the default. This doesn't happen when I have the standard 10 digit number saved without the leading '1'. Does anyone know of a fix?

I have trouble explaining things so sorry if this doesn't make any sense. If you need clarification, just ask.

I was wondering if there is an facebook app for the E71x through AT&T. I noticed a few other Nokia phones have a face book app. If for chance is does not have the facebook app for the phone, is viewing quality of the website good or not so great? Thanks for any info.

Everytime I connect my phone to my PC adobe starts up and dowloads all of the pics from my phone. How do I stop this?

Is there a way to increase the time before the infrared connection times out? Often times I will be in the middle of typing a text message in PC Suite and it times out before I am finished.

Whenever I try to connect the E71x to Vista with the USB cable, it always shows up as an "Unknown Device" - even after I installed the PC Suite. I've tried all 4 USB modes on the phone: PC Suite, Mass storage, Image transfer, Media transfer.

So I have 2 questions:

#1 If anyone has been able to get the E71x recognized by 64bit Vista, how?

#2 Are there drivers for this phone that I can download?

I've tried both Nokia's and AT&T's tech support, but neither were able to answer. ☹️

I wish to purchase this phone direct from Nokia. I asked the ATT rep at a local Corp store if I could do so without contract penalty or renewal and it is no problem. However, the ATT rep claims I MUST have the $30 data plan even though I am not purchasing the phone from them. He quoted the new Smartphone Sept 1st rule. Is this true? I don't want data, only the Wifi feature.

I have been looking everywhere and I can not find an answer to this. The alarm clock is WAY to quiet. Is there anyway that you can change the ringtone for the alarm?

Anyone find a way to turn on the flash in order to use as a flashlight?

I just got the E71x yesterday, and I really like it. But there's a message icon flashing on the bottom of the home screen. I don't have any unopened text messages and I don't get emails on my phone at all. Any idea what the icon is and how to turn it off?

If I buy the e71, do I have the option of not paying for internet service which thereby prevents me from surfing the internet, sending e-mail,etc?

Why is this phone shown as discontinued? The e71x is a newer phone and is on the at&t site.

When the alarm goes off on my phone, the alarm sound doesn't play - "clock alarm" and the time flashes on the screen, and I can stop it or snooze, but there isn't any sound. The phone is set to the "Normal" profile, not silent or vibrate. The alarm tone is set, and I can hear that sound, when I set it. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know how to change the keyboard configuration, the keys don't represent the letter or symbol shown on the phone sometimes.
I've tried changing writing language and phone language, but didn't work. ☹️

I am confused on what triggers this bar to actually be lit up once in awhile. I am talking about the that comes up a few seconds after you press the D pad when the key pad is locked. Usually there is no back light, and it is hard to read. Once in awhile it IS lit up, which is very handy. Can anyone tell me what triggers this?

I just attempted to download the Gmail APP for my E71x and got the following message from Google:

"Sorry, the Gmail application does not work on your E71. However, you can access Gmail on the go by using the web version."

WTF?!?! 😲 😲 😲 👿 👿 👿


I've not seen anyone, anywhere say anything about having trouble with this. All comments I've seen on the subject indicate that the app works fine on the E71x. Anybody have any ideas here??? 😕
