3-1/2 year update

Still good. Still seeing ghost touches occasionally when the screen is dirty but only on the lock screen.

The last verizon update was late August of 2024. You can still get configuration updates from Google.
I'm not sure if it's something they did in the last update but when I touch things I have to be a little more precise and sometimes hang your finger on whatever you're touching just slightly longer depending on what it is you are doing. I might try it with glove mode off for a little while but winter's coming so I'll need that soon.
I've considered replacing it but nothing strikes my fancy. The pro 3 does not have a sapphire screen. If it wasn't for that I would probably have one.

2-1/2 years update, very good.

No real problems. I still see ghost touches on occasion on the edges of the lock screen. They never do anything. Just wipe the screen and they go away. I just recently noticed a tiny faint tan spot in the lower left hand corner of the white part of the screen. Not a problem at this point. On rare occasions when I go to wake the phone by tapping the power button the phone will restart. It has probably been doing that for a year or maybe longer but it's pretty rare. It doesn't cause much grief and I think it's a much shorter start than normal so maybe it's not a full restart. I'll have to pay very close attention the next time it happens. I only shut the phone off a couple times a month. It has only taken a few serious falls so other than som...

10 Month update, no issues

Jan 2022, I wipe the screen frequently and I can't remember the last time I had any ghost touches. In late December there was an update to get to Android 11. There were no problems or changes that I saw. The previous update was late October so it is not getting them every month like in the beginning. For those with freezing issues you need to go into the developer section and turn on "show touches". If you are getting ghost touches at least you'll be able to see them. Keep the screen clean of fingerprint smudges and dust and dirt. In a lot of lighting conditions you can't necessarily see those fingerprint smudges so just wipe it on a regular basis.

Trouble. Verizon UNlaunches

Dropped ancher? Put it in dry dock? Verizon has stopped selling the Kyocera Duraforce Ultra 5G. Within a week of its first sales Verizon's website said that it was unavailable to order. A few days later they showed a shipping date of late March and a few days after that it showed a shipping date of April 1 2021. As of March 31st Verizon has removed the phone from their website. There are problems with the screen becoming unresponsive which is reset by hitting the power button and then unlocking the phone again. There are also problems with the screen touching itself. If you go into the developer section and turn on "show touches" (older phones was show taps), you will see a little circle show up for a second or so after you touch the phon...

Just a vote of support here - I'm having both of these same issues (non-responsive screen, and screen going wild with its own touches). I decided to go check the Verizon page to read other reviews and found it to be taken down...very interesting. I li...

Did you ever figure it out? I got the same issues with mine?
I did a factory reset. There was an update from Verizon about a week ago. I've tried it in safe mode. I've tried it with glove touch mode off. The problem still exists. It doesn't happen real often. It seems to be slightly worse if you got a lot of f...

Just got the 5g ultra from Verizon wireless website at the end of June, and I want to throw it in the woods. All the same problems you have, jumping screen by itself, and freezes up unresponsive and have to lockout and unlock then it's only responsive...

I am regretting this DuraForce Ultra and I'm also getting super annoyed at the Verizon carrier for this product. Out of the box, this phone was frozen and needed a master reset through safe mode...
I should have brought it back right then.

Not sure if anyone is following this thread but I have had exactly the same issues. The problem seems to come and go. However, and I'm probably jinxing things here, I just did the October update to the phone and I haven't seen the problem reoccur an...

6 month update 9-25-21 Ultra 5G

I ordered it when it first came out and had trouble with the ghost touching and freezing and possibly the microphone issue. Verizon replaced it in early May and the ghost touching started after about a week and I noticed the microphone was muffled when on speaker phone and when recording videos and on the built-in audio recorder app. I was about ready to give up when an update happened in late May and the microphone issue was fixed. The ghost touches appear to be related to fingerprint smudges. I wipe the phone on my cotton shirt or a damp rag or a dry rag on a regular basis and the touches rarely ever happen and if they do a quick wipe always stops them. I have not had any BIG drops on hard surfaces. I use battery care mode which charges ...

Do not buy this phone

I made the mistake of purchasing the DuraForce Ultra 5G in early April 2021 from Verizon and it has never worked properly. It drops their network and never reconnects unless you reset the device. Then it will pick up the network anywhere from 25 min. to 5 days before it drops it again only to go through the same process again. It will never pick up the network again until you reset everything. Verizon has sent out a new sim, a replacement phone, they have reset my phone number, I have run the phone is safe mode and they have done a network check of my area with no problems reported. The phone is apparently not ready for market as it is clearly a software issue. After over two months of troubleshooting and wasting approx, 40 some hours of my ...

Support timeline problematic for some people

The Ultra is available on Verizon as of 3.11.21. I started with the brigadier and security updates stopped when the PRO came out. Updates for the pro stopped when the pro 2 came out. Updates for the pro 2 were happening approximately every month on Verizon but it's been over 3 months since the last one in December (google security October). The ATT pro2 did get a security update in February 21 but who knows when or if they'll get the ultra. So if you buy late in the 2 year cycle Kyocera has been on you're not going to get updates for very long. Maybe that will change but I doubt it. Kyocera is a small player but I think they should support the phones for more than 2 years. There were problems with the pro and pro 2 that were not address...

5 days in no problems. I was pleasantly surprised initially that there were no garbage apps and games and facecrap. Then Verizon sent out the first update and about 12 or more apps showed up that I had to uninstall.

hope it is better quality than the duraforce pro - when does it release on verizon?

currently using the duraforce pro, which was replaced under warranty for overheating battery just before warranty ran out. the replacement phone (just like the original) is very slow and the screen repeatedly just freezes up when trying to do simple things like scrolling thru the android screens, and have to wait 20-30 seconds for the processor to catch up. the duraforce pro 2 came out remarkably quickly after the 1, but there were no deals and I refuse to fix the manufacturer's problem with five of my own 100 dollar bills, especially after only 24 months of use on the original phone. I intend to upgrade but it if doesn't work properly this time I will return it quickly. I do like the design and dislike the Sonim design as its too big and...

Hopefully AT&T picks up this phone as well.
There are many that need rugged phones like these.
