Where is it exactly?
Perhaps someone can help me. I went to Sprint.com and Nextel.com and I do not see the ic902 phone. How does one get to the place on Sprint's online store where the phone is supposed to be available?
It won't be available for sale online or via telesales until Sunday evening "at the earliest" but it officially releases on Monday.
Defending Sprint's decision to use only PCS+iDEN
Like many of you here, I initially hated the fact that Sprint opted to make the hybrids with no 850 roaming. In fact, I've even posted here on PS saying this.
But since purchasing one, and using it in my area, I've discovered they made a very wise decision in so doing.
First, let me say that, no, you aren't going to have the same coverage you get with a standard cellphone, it's going to be similar to what you have on regular Nextel phones.
But what you will get is a phone with better coverage than what Nextel alone could have built out for themselves. For example, if you live in Texas, your voice coverage will be GREATLY enhanced, and such is the case with many other states (i.e. Kansas, Alabama, Mississippi,).

WRONG. Power vision devices are CDMA 1900, CDMA 850 and EVDO. They lack analog roaming. The powersource phones have a LOT smaller of a coverage area than Power Vision phones from sprint. Go to their site and look for yourself.

Sucks for roaming. Alltel and VZW use mostly 850 Mhz... so this phone is a no go for me.

The reason why is the iDEN technology, its one of the smallest networks out there. The sprint side of the coverage makes up for it, but the no roaming would suck in those low coverage areas.

Actually Verizon has been putting up 1900Mhz towers for years. When they first went digital they used the 850Mhz because they already owned those licenses because that is the frequency their analog network ran on.

Lets just hope the worked the bugs out cause these 402's and 502's suck major. I love the concept of these phones but motorola dropped the ball in production of the first batch, which I guess you can say that about alot of there phones (RAZR, PEBL, L7, V70) 🤣
Moto always drops the ball on the first line of products... like the Razr, the first batch that came out on verizon sucked and had horrible issues such as battery life or turning on. They've fixed the ic405 and ic502 by the third batch they sent out....

The ic phones have been hit and miss, just like any other phone really. I think the ic902 is going to be a good phone though (if it wasn't a Moto it could be great) but it will be the best Nextel phone out.
