I'm curious to find out how big the actual picture is on the screen when playing slingbox
yes, works pretty well. the picture is almost 3/4 size of screen. sometimes cant read scores on sports broadcast due to size. but its worth the $20 for sure

Battery Life

😳

I jsut boght the i770 and setup the phone with Active Sync. I currently have Active Sync setup to download messages as they come in,and switch to manual after 6:00 PM, similar to old Motorola Q phone. My problem is that I can not get a full work day out of the battery. I am very dissapointed.

I spoke to Samsung Tech Support and they said the battery or phone may need replaced. I pushed the tech on the issue and asked about how much time I could get out of the phone if I played music. She said the batery would die within 2 hours. If this is the case, what is the point with the phone?

I am wondering if anyone else any experience with the battery life or if you have any suggestions for how to setup the phone to allow me to stay in...

Get the extended battery. The Saga I was able to play with belonged to a salesman in a Verizon Wireless store. He said the phone MUST have the extended battery to really be usable and should have come with it standard. My 1st PDA phone back in 2003...

To improve the battery life:

1 - don't set it to synch as emails arrive, set it to some interval, the synch process drains the battery. Try at least an hour, I set it to 4hrs. It only takes a few seconds for it do send/recieve email on demand if ...

Configuring Soft Keys

I just got the Saga and was wondering how to configure the 2 main soft keys on the Today screen. This is not for the side buttons, but for the soft keys (next to the optical mouse). Does anyone know how to configure these to something instead of Phone and Contacts? My i760 use to have this is a simple configuration.
I found this app that does a great job. Hope it helps.

VZW new data plan policy

I spoke to vzw cust service twice now.
Any new smart phones released by vzw after 11/14 MUST have the unlimited data package.

If you decide to drop the data package at anytime in the future you will have to get a new device. They will let you keep the old phone but will block its data functions including SMS. (Although SMS is not included in the unltd data package but is regarded as data.)

This new phone has every function I might possibly need. But I dont NEED email and internet 24/7 so the wifi ability would be useful to update the phone when at home. I really object to being required to pay for something I dont need. I know why vzw are doing it, cos if a phone has wifi people wont bother buying the data plan and they'll lose money...

What is VZW charging for the PDA data plans?
Spoke to a VZW customer service rep about this at length yesterday. She said that the i770 didn't come up as a PDA model(?) on her list and therefore this new data plan policy CAN be gotten around on this phone by putting a data block on the line me...

This is called tying and it is illegal. If you are willing to buy the smartphone unsubsidized (if you have to) you shouldn't be forced to buy the data plan to activate the voice service.

Nope. But Verizon announced plans to unlock it by mid-year.

Saga vs.....

I am very intrigued with the Saga, seeing as I use a Treo 700wx now, it seems like it would be a smooth transition. I have been due for an upgrade for a while now, but I am holding out for a better device that what is currently available.

My conflict though is that there are not many reviews out yet, and I really wonder how the Saga stands up to the competition that is reported as being picked up by VZW soon.

Seeing as we are only allowed one test device before we are stuck, I want to scope this out as much as possible. What I want to ask, is does anyone have any side-by-side knowledge of how the Saga stands up to the Touch Pro (AKA the VX6850 reported as being picked up on 11-24), Omnia (12-15), Diamond (Jan. 2009), or Treo 800w (no ...

Data plan is like having a v8 Mustang or Camaro

If you want a PDA phone it's like buying a car. You buy a 4 cylinder for the gas mileage and the savings it can get you. But if you want the feeling of being slammed into the seat when you race through the gears you get the "big dog V8" By what you are going to use and use it. If you don't need a pda phone don't buy it. There are alot of touch screen phones out there that can do most of the same things. Yes it's nice to be able to sync the out look to the phone and at present the cell companies have us by the balls.
I am as guilty as most, always want the next best toy. I love the Dare and really could use the Omnia or the i770 or the Storm but not right know. Just can't pull the trigger on $100.00 extra amonth.
This is my opinion and ta...

I Wondered When This Would Happen

With the shutdown of analog, I knew it was just a matter of time before wireless companies would begin exploring other roaming possibilities. If this new phone will roam off of AT&T and T-Mobile, it will be a big win for Verizon. The more coverage, the better.

Hopefully, the other carriers will follow suit on this.

VZW Wants more global roaming

VZW phone, even the Global Phone are not usable everywhere. Add a Domestic GSM for usability in the americas. Mexico is decomission some of their CDMA network so... VZW needs something to work in the Deep South.
seeing how all the Pedro's and Jose's have sneaked up here illegally i could see how they would have a need for a phone to work when they go back to the great land of "Sneak your trash into the USA" and help their deadbeat families get stateside.

Sounds more like a T-Mobile/Sprint/Nextel Phone

Given that there are rumors of T-Mobile acquiring Sprint-Nextel, this phone would be the perfect choice for a multi-technology network.

VZW+UNICEL?

If this is true,(and not a mistake in any documentation), I wonder if the handset is meant for VZW and Unicel customers. I know Verizon Wireless acquired Unicel not too long ago and had planned to add CDMA equipment to
the existing Unicel GSM equipment at the base stations. One of the articles I found did state that VZW wanted to keep the GSM technology up and running for roaming.
Aren't the two (CDMA and GSM) radios going to interfere
with each other though?

They wouldn't run at the same time. I pretty much guarantee you will have to manually choose CDMA or GSM mode.

LTE?

Maybe the other bands are for LTE. I bet Verizon and AT&T will "get in bed with each other", so to speak, to create a national LTE network with roaming agreements.
Verizon has already stated they are going to use 700mhz for LTE. Not gonna happen.
Not to mention...the model number of this phone is typical for VZW and not AT&T. Also...LTE is atleast 2 years away for anybody (Verizon said 2, AT&T said 3)...and if this phone is going through FCC now...it is destined for release in a year or less ...
(continues)
No, it is definitely too early for that. We won't see LTE phones for a while yet.
