Review: Samsung Moment

Is there any way to remove the emergency dial below the password lock screen? I fear i will activate that on accident at some point..just got phone yesterday. Also I was wondering if there is a way to forward text messages I receive to someone else? I can't figure that one out....

Sooo... I have had the Samsung Moment for awhile... and aside from the occasional freezing I have quite enjoyed having the phone. The only real issue I have with it though is that I cant see moving media that is forwarded to me, and then also if it has sound with it the message doesnt play it all at once but plays one at a time like a slide show. Also if I decide to forward something to people I cant access my contacts and select the receivers of the message but have to physically type in the names... it is dumb! Has anybody had any success with this stuff because I find it kind of sad that I can do all of this on a regular flip phone but when I get my first smart phone it wont let me. 😳

Does anyone know what the small check mark next to some contacts phone numbers is? Little white check mark in a white box. There doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason for them? Are they "confirmed" numbers or something?

I recently bought a Samsung Moment. To be honest I am not very pleased with the Android OS. It seems to lag and its rather slow. I am not sure if its because of the amount of apps I have downloaded on my phone from market place or what the problem may be. I know that Anroid 2.2 is coming out, do you know how I can get that updated on my phone?

Does anyone know why or if they discontinued the iMusic app? I still have it on my moment but a few of my friends can not find the app anywhere?!?

My GPS just doesn't work. Called Sprint and after much stupidity and sillyness took it to my local repair place where they said. Yep it doesn't work.
Okay I go a new Moment and the GPS still doesn't work.
I have tried it a number of times in the car and no joy. My wife's Pre works just fine.
So am I unlucky or does GPS just not work on the Moment.
BTW I am in a smallish town in Florida so no mountains or big buildings blocking the signal.

So I upgraded to 2.1 and I cant get Live Wallpapers to work. Every time I try, I get a FORCE CLOSE error.


Any help would be appreciated.


Also anyone root or install 2.2 on their phone?

If anybody is interested in checking it out, its availible at SDX Developers webite, you can install it using the sprint updater tool.

Its not the official release but so far its stable and has improved reception and battery life. Plus many other 2.1 features such as root (optional), google nav, live wallpapers, etc.

Does anyone here know if the moment can use PDANet?

i have been with nextel forever and just recently found out how much i am missing out on by not being with sprint. i could get sprint tv, and music. now is the tricky part. i have no idea which phone to go with. i have looked at so many, sprint has a giant selection to choose from. i have never had a touch phone, or flip out keyboard, or any special extras for that matter. now i am so torn between the new blackberry with the touch pad scroller, and the hero, or moment. any suggestions? i like the blackberry for its non flip out keyboard. but the keys are small, so i am not sure if it will work for me. but everyone has it these days. i want to try out the new touch screen fad, but dont want to go to far as to go with all touch- lik...

Is there an app in the market that supports windows media player movies, my old palm treo did, just wondering if the moment has the same capability?

I need to know if the phone can download something like adobe flash. I need this to play music streamed from an Internet radio station. I hope someone can be of assistant. I have this phone, I thought it could do everything but I see that HTC HERO has flash. I am on the verge of taking this phone back to sprint.

Does the Samsung Moment contain a Memo function or a To Do list? Does it sync the calendar from Outlook? Can the contact list from a Treo 800W be transferred?

I have a customer that needs to know whether or not the moment has the same application as a blackberry. He is curious to know if you can highlight a number in a text or any kind of message and the phone will then dial it, quickly and effortlessly.

I have a question, I used to have a Treo 755 and I could disable the touchscreen when I was on a phone call, can the Moment do that? I keep placing people on speaker phone or mute myself every time I make a phone call. If I can fix that problem the phone would be perfect.
