the cable and phone companies still want you to buy DSL and cable internet,ect. at very expensive prices. I feel sorry if you live in a rual area.

I don't. Sorry I feel that way, but I do. Because in the end, we would end up being taxed or fee'd to give them subsidized broadband.

Even if they roll out some sort of great free broadband network I would still rather pay per month to get more bandwidth, privacy (because there are privacy issues that will be brought about because of this) and quality of connection.

The government wants to give "POOR PEOPLE" free high speed Internet, so they can have the same quality of life as people who have a job and work for a living... the tax payers will not only be paying for Lafonda's 4 kids (from 3 different daddy's) to use her welfare for satellite TV but we will also now be paying for her kids to surf the web... Hasn't anyone heard of their local library anymore?

One Point that hasn't been brought up...
If you don't have money to get internet, then you probably don't have a computer. If you have a computer, then you can at least afford 5-10 bucks a month for dial-up... 🙄
