why not name it...
why not name it the droid 2....or droid 1.5....or sumthin along those lines...but the devour is ugly..should have been black lol silver is so old
Not every phone needs to looks like the iPhone... I actually like the silver.
Okay man, you should really read the actual specs on the phone before making a comment like this. Maybe if you had suggested that they name the phone Droid 0.5, i would have made sense. This phone Technically speaking is significantly inferior to the ...

I like the silver myself. Not everything needs to look like the Droid. This seems pretty cool. I have the Eris and absolutely LOVE it. Glad to see Motorola making a semi-comeback.
I don't mind the naming, but I have to agree on the color. Went a conference recently and they let us all take a look at the new hype and really, it does look cheap. If it were a glossy silver it may not look too bad..but the matte finish type just ki...

Stuck on Blur screen-not booting
Just this last week my Devour decided it would stick on the Moto blur screen, the screen that comes up when you first turn on the phone. Blur just keeps blinking and it never stops. I have tried removing the battery several times, removing the memory card, everything I can think of. Each time I turn it on it sticks again and this will go on as long as I have let it. I know it is taking a charge because twice I managed to see the charging screen just before it happened. It seems to not be booting the Moto Blur platform. Anyone else experience this and manage to fix it? I will go to the Verizon store tomorrow (finally) and I hope to resolve this.

How to save battery life on Android phones!! Must have app.
Download APNdroid from the market.
Android: When you're asleep, at an event, or otherwise indisposed, you don't need your battery-draining data connection, but you might still want to take phone calls. Free Android app APNdroid can selectively turn off your data access while allowing calls.
The app's design is a clever one, as activating APNdroid from its app button simply activates the on/off switch for GPRS, EDGE, and 3G networks, allowing you to use the APNdroid icon as a kind of widget on your Android screens. You obviously won't be able to surf the web or sync Google services while your data services are off, or send MMS messages. You will, however, have basic phone functionality, and your battery will probably live a bit longer...

New Devour
Has anyone noticed on the New Motorola Devour (A555 aka. lil droid) that the phone lists itself as a 'Calgary' in the software?
Going into the 'Google talk menu', selecting 'next', and the very next screen the heading is 'Setting up your Calgary'. Phonearena listed from their sources about a year ago that a Motorola Calgary was expected for Verizon. The original keypad looked more like a flattened Droid keypad. Apparently this may have been the Calgary early on. There is no denying that it does not say 'Setting up your Devour' The one I have here, does not.

I wonder if voice dial over bluetooth is nerfed on this one too.
I wonder if voice dial over bluetooth is nerfed on this one too.
Like it is on the NExus One and Motorola DROID.
I hope some time soon that it gets fixed in a firmware update.
Its not like this ability hasnt been around for years, or that is STATE LAW in many states.
I like these phones, I just dont like that
the issue is still happening but they keep pumping out more phones with Android on them.
It does have voice dial via Bluetooth. I have used it.

Bypass Screen Instructions (before activation)
At Language selection screen slide out the physical keyboard and type:
Fn e Fn e b l u r o f f
NO spaces in between. Fn = Function Key.
If you do this, know that you will then have to master reset to use Blur, and you need Blur to do a lot of the cool things the phone do.

News on new Blackberry Tour 2???
Does anyone know when the new Blackberry Tour 2 will be released? Thank you.....
Don't you think it's time to move the browser out of the "Extras" section?
Granted, there isn't much more to say, but I would like to see how easy it is to navigate around, visit other pages, or even if it supports multiple windows.
I was playing with a Backflip yesterday, and everything looks similar to this one. One thing that was annoying was navigating to a different page required you to bring up a separate menu, choose "Go," and then type in the URL. This just seems like a pain, when the title bar already shows the URL, you just can't select it to change or type in another one.
But overall, very good review, I just think the review layout needs some retooling for 2010.

Moto Devour, Moto Droid, and HTC Droid Eris!
I was just wondering which phone everyone prefers. I want the Eris but it is slow. I want the Droid but the keyboard and it only has 3 screens. I also want the Devour, but it only has a 3.0 megapixel camera and I don't know about the screens. I love HTC widgets and it is getting an update to 2.0 or 2.1 soon.
I know people who have the Droid and love it. I personally have the Eris because I couldn't type on the Droid keyboards (real or virtual) and it didn't have Sense UI. Widgets are fantastic - Android is fantastic. I don't find the Eris slow coming from...

Signal
Yeah I've noticed the signal on the Devour isn't that great. I was out today in a few places and it claimed I was romaing at times, 3G was off and on, etc. A friend is with VZW and has the Curve 8330 and she was having no problems.
I had even done the *228, then 1 and also 2. Doesn't seem like it helped much at all. Hope they can release a software fix for this and do it soon.

Classification
Are they considering this a 3G Smartphone or a 3G Multimedia phone?
My sister wants this, and if it's considered a 3G smartphone she can forget it. I'm not paying the $29.99 plan lol. The $9.99 plan I don't mind.
Smartphone. It runs on the Android operating system just like the Motorola Droir and HTC Droid Eris.
It will require the $29.99 data plan.
You get SO much more for your $30 though on a real smartphone. It's really not the deal-killer everyone makes it out to be. And Android is a really nice platform.

Yes, it's the same phone. It was the Devours debut during the Super Bowl. Did you notice that they used a hand model?
