ringtone assigned in contacts?

I am looking for some features, applications & general stuff about my phone. I have T-Mobile, not sure if that makes a difference with this Nuron 5230.
I'd like a count-down timer & stop watch but they don't seem to be part of the phone. Guess I'll just download an app.
I have read on a forum for the phone on the T-Mobile site that ringtones can be assigned to individual contacts, but I don't see an option for that.

I've had the phone about a week & like it - just need to learn to use it.
Symbian is a pretty loaded operating system feature wise, but they can be buried a little in menu's. If you have the patience, try some of the Symbian S60 and Nokia forums. You might be surprised by some features.

questions & info.

guess I'm trying to find out about the Nuron & thought it would be better to look & post here rather than call T-Mobile. This is my first "nice" phone - haven't had a new one in over 3 years & even then it was a free phone with no data, just began texting a year ago. I moved from AT&T, so now data & texts are affordable.

I'm behind the learning curve.
Current questions: can I calibrate the screen for the touch typing? Can I assign individual ringtones to contacts - can I record or download those ringtones?

I like the cheap data plan, the phone seems to navigate the web (though a bit small & clumsy) & have a decent GPS.

I also like (so far) T-Mobile's on-line website, much easier entering contacts there then on the phone (yeah, did...

There is a 'screen calibration' option under Settings => Phone => Touch Input => Touch Screen Calibration. There is a 'writing feature' as well.

I don't know about assigning ringtones.

Download Google Maps, it connects to the GPS signal faster ...

T-mo vs ATT Data Plan

Any idea what AT&T would require for a data plan? $30 or $10?
T-Mobile for whatever reason is not requiring the smartphone rates for data on this device.
I am considering the Nokia 5230 directly from Nokia which as ATT 3G frequencies.
I just picked it up on T-Mobile today anyway, moot point now.
I missed you Nokia! Bye ATT.

5230 Plain and Nuron

Nokia has two devices with the 5230 label. They look pretty much alike. The difference is in the 3G bands.

The Nuron has AWS band 3G. The 5230 has 850/1900 MHz WCDMA for 3G.

The Nuron has T-Mobile US 3G capability. The 5230 without the Nuron designation works on other 3G networks such as AT&T.

The 850/1900 version is available on the nokiausa.com web site. The Nuron, as of this moment, is not.
