Nokia May Turn to Linux in High-End Handsets
'Bout Freakin TIME!
Nokia missed out on a huge opportunity by not putting a GSM/HSPA radio chip in the N800 & N810 and releasing that as an immediate competitor to the iPhone. With a small but hardcore developer group, the Maemo phone could have (and could still) had an immediate open source equivalent to nearly all iPhone apps & features.
Now, of course, there's Android, so I don't know if Maemo could actually take off as a mobile phone platform, but I'm all for Nokia trying.
