Hmmmm

All I can say, this is one good idea. As long as it doesn't take longer to charge one's phone.
The cost of the mats is outta-this-world and its its just lazy. Just plug the darm phone in with the charger or car charger...

This does nothing for those of us that USE the phone... How can you use voice and data while this the phone on the mat?...

Efficiency

Is using a touchstone-like system any more or less power efficient than a regular charger? We already waste too much electricity by keeping electronics plugged in longer than needed and I am curious if more energy is lost by using this system. If so, we should rethink our priorities.
As "cool" as charging mats are conceptually, they are a ridiculous source of power waste. These things are terrible.

A little science: everyone knows that electricity and magnetism are almost the same thing, and it's fairly easy (thought ridiculo...

Nikola Tesla

LOL Nikola Tesla is rolling in his grave right now. He created this technology the 1880's.

Nikola dreamed of having Giant towers that would broadcast electricity... Now we are doing everything possible to make this a viable option 120 years later.

touchstone and powermat really arent wireless charging..

You still connect them to charge.. that means their connected... we need true wireless charging... like hook a device into your socket then hook a small device into your power port on your phone and can charge it anywhere as long as your whiten like 1500 ft or something.
There was a University that actually was able to light a 60 watt bulb from I believe 20 feet away without wires. It was done by a magnetic field. So your thought is in theory, reality but a definite years away.

I was thinking that too, as long as they do those non slip tray thingie things. Side benefit is it would be way safer then trying to plug in when driving.
