I just don't understand how the federal government make BILLIONS of dollars off of property they don't really own, they don't build, they don't develop or maintain and then have the audacity to charge insane taxes on cell phone plans upwards of 18%.
This amazes me and it goes FAAAR beyond controlling and keeping the airwaves safe. It is sheer greed at it's worst and an example of a government taking incredible advantage of its people.

What happens if someone discovers a new way to transmit sound and data? Will the government claim it as thier own and sell/tax that as well???

How old are you? What do you not understand? One cannot do ANYTHING in this world without paying taxes. The freest individuals are homeless persons. Everyone else is owned by the government. You pay income taxes, property taxes, sales taxes etc.....

Think of it this way: they're selling the exclusivity of those airwaves. Otherwise, you have tons of conflicting devices on the same band with neither device working right.
