Palm Reportedly Up for Sale
HTC + Palm = awesome.....But,
The union of HTC and Palm's OS could in fact, be a device in which no others could defend themsves against. But I wonder about how the lack of apps would effect the interest.
I personally don't care how many apps I can shove into a phone, but it appears I may be a minority.
Companies that should buy Palm
1) RIM - RIM needs a new OS badly or the Blackberry is going to die a very slow, long, painful death. It wouldn't be an easy transition, but it's their best shot.
2) Motorola - They already got screwed over with the Nexus One launch, and their attitude to Android is rather noncommittal. 3 months to push 2.1 to their flagship phone is laughable- they need the software expertise of Palm.
3) HP - HP has a phone division? I didn't know that, either. HP buying Palm would be a smart move as I don't see Windows 7 on the HP Slate being such a great experience- HP could use WebOS to differentiate their products. (I don't thin...

Too big to fail??
It could be Apple, VZW or anyone. I do not feel that any company is with out the possibility of failure. You forget who made you number one, the customer with money, and you will join the ranks of simply an industry has been or trivia question.
Political comment here....That is unless you can trick or lobby government to bail you out. Then we all own you.
