Socialist San Fran

The government has no right to interfere so much with business. Ultimately, it is the consumers' job to know about the product they're using and any warnings that go with it. That's why consumer-advocacy groups exist; to inform consumers of ill-advised products and to start boycotts.
Consumers will (hopefully) always have more power than the gov't, because we can hurt a company's pockets unlike the gov't which relies upon bureaucratic BS to impose control. Mid-term elections are coming up...do your part to stop Obama's ridiculous blanket of control over America.
In a democracy, people get the government they deserve.

HEY SAILORS! Bluecoyote live from San Francisco reporting on this!

HEY SAILORS! As a SAN FRANCISCO resident which I am not, I think it's important that your phones get tested for SAR. SAR can be deadly, and if you hand your phone unprotected to a partner there's a chance they could get it.

The CTIA basically thinks it's okay for us to go from phone to phone without seeing the test results. GET REAL SISTER! Get your phone TESTED.
As much as you're despised, I think we can all agree that was hilarious. 🤣
That is about the same quality reporting we get from MSNBC... but yours was actually worth reading!
🤣
finally, you and I agree on something.

The iphone4...

Already has a safety provision in place for this.

If you hold or touch it in anyway, it ceases all radio transmission thus making it extremely safe. Likely Steve Jobs kept this in mind. 😁

Sorry. Couldn't resist! 😲
🤣
that it affects people like you who have never even owned the device 🤣
"If you hold or touch it in anyway, it ceases all radio transmission thus making it extremely safe."

Your logic is flawed... if the iPhone is "ceasing transmission", its because all that radio energy is being absorbed by YOU! and its transmitter is...

What is that, that I smell burning?

Everyone does realize that the frequencies of radio waves which are used by cell phones have many of the same qualities as those frequencies of radio waves your microwave oven uses, right? And, among those qualities is the quality to cook food, or specifically meat! Although the power levels that phones emit are only a small fraction of the power levels used in microwave ovens, I would personally consider it nice to know the levels the phones are emitting. And, yes, those levels might influence my purchases of phones. One example would be, in the city with easy access to cell towers, why not go with the lowest possible emission levels and worry about my health. However, if I lived in a remote location I would have to accept higher levels and...

Big Tobacco

That would be like Phillip Morris and Lorillard, makers of Marlboro and Newport to sue to keep the surgeon general's warning about the dangers of cigarettes off the packs. I know a few people who would ask about the radiation levels of a cell they were about to buy. CTIA looks guilty as sin by suing the city to hide the truth if you ask me.
they aren't trying to hide anything. Its public knowledge what the SAR level of devices are- heck most devices tell you in the owners manual.

They are upset because there is no proof that Apples iPhone 4's 1.17 SARS iPhone 4 is any less dangerous t...

About time!

Everyone complains about how bad AT&T is in San Fran and I've always wondered why. New York, I get. Manhattan alone has over a million people in a very concentrated area. San Fran is a big city, but its not nearly as concentrated. It's this organization stopping the building of more towers.

We can blame carriers all we want, but carriers have no chance of improving coverage if the city won't let them.
These are also the same folks who blocked Google and other companies from having city wide wifi...

I don't think that the SAR rating has much to do with reception. I mean, some phones ...

Then the CTIA should...

Educate cellphone users as to what the numbers mean.

Don't post calories and not saturated fats! It will confuse eaters about what causes fatassitis!

Hmmmmmm

Its awfully odd that cities like SF and LA, say Arizona has no right to protect its borders, and that its a Federal jurisdiction then, then have no problems doing more or less the same thing when it comes to this.
Being born and raised in CA, I can tell you that major CA cities gave up the privilege of being considered cities a long time ago.

Look...

...I'm not stupid. I know 20 yrs from now they'll say being exposed to SAR gives you brain cancer, leukemia or permanent butt fungus.

But I figure it's only one of a million different things that could eventually kill me.

I didn't know I could get SARs from my phone.
