Ice Cream Sandwich
Does anyone know if the Inspire will be getting the 4.0 update? I work for AT&T but I can't find any info on it. There is rumor that the Desire HD will be getting it (which has the same sofware and specs), but not the Inspire.
My upgrade isn't available until November, so I was planning on doing an early upgrade for the One X, but now that the early upgrade fee is $250 for any smartphone, I'm hoping I can hold out these next 7 months.
Work for them as well and the early upgrade fee is a joke if you have been with them for 4 or 5 years on your cell phone service I would upgrade you standard upgrade price, wouldn't even need manager override if you know how to do it right.
And no ...

Multiple Crashes - Can't read Sim card
Bought two HTC Inspire 4Gs for me and my assistant. Within 1 day, they both started saying "No Sim Card." Only way to clear is to remove battery, let sit and reinsert. Need to do this 3-4 times a day.
After 2 weeks, started crashing - went to black screen - no response on any button or on/off switch. Again, only cure is to remove battery. Happens about once a day, sometimes more.
Battery life is horrible - doesn't make it through a work day.
Researching alternatives now and hoping to find honest reviews. Will never buy another HTC anything! ๐ก

4G SIM required?
Greetings,
Anyone know if I can swap SIM card between Nokia N72 and Inspire 4G? I do not need 3G or 4G data. Just voice. TIA.
The same SIM card you have for your N72 will be compatible for the inspire device. You should still use the SIM card that came with the new device because SIM cards can become defective and it always good to use a new SIM card to receive the best ser...

HSPA+ to LTE
I know currently all of AT&T's 4G handsets operate on the HSPA+ network. Will they be able to operate on the LTE network slated to go online later this year early next or will customers' have to buy new devices?
They won't work on LTE. And I know there are mixed feelings on this. To be honest, right now I'm perfectly happy using hspa+, data price is the same on my unlimited plan, its far more then I need for a smartphone device, even if I was to tether. No...

No, LTE requires new phones with LTE hardware.

Can it do this...?
Do you think you would be able to set a MP3 TEXT-tone, for people.
Or even different ones for for individual people?
And not RING tone.
TEXT tone.
???
(:
Make a folder on your SD card named "Notifactions" minus the quotes. Then move all the mp3s that you want as ring tones to that folder. Then go to where your ringtones are and they should be listed there.

WCDMA 850
I am a T-Mobile customer and have been comparing the two US GSM carriers. What puzzles me is the WCDMA 850 that is generally not offered on T-Mo phones except ones by Motorola. However, all AT&T phones seem to have it, regardless of the manufacturer. So I wonder what kind of data traffic is using WCDMA 850 and where. Anyone?
AT&T uses both 850 and 1900 for umts, and is migrating more and more towards 850 for better building penetration.

Front Facing Camera???
Did I miss it?? I was told the phone was supposed to have a front facing camera...
๐
AT&T isn't keen on front cameras. Based on our speed tests, the phone and/or network can't do data fast enough for video chat anyway.
There is a feature that "searches" for your face when you turn the camera around to you and while automatically take the pic for you. That way you know you will end up taking a good picture of yourself even if you can't see yourself while taking the ...

What were they thinking
Why would they do this to us, it has to be the worst decision ever made in the world of phone design. Who decided to super glue these battery covers onto the phone. Is it some kind of sick joke. You have to use a screw driver to pop it off.
By the way, contact HTC if you damage your phone while trying to get the cover off. I'm told they will ship you a new one.

Not available yet?
I just got off the phone with AT&T. They told me that they were only taking pre-orders for the Inspire and that it would only be available in March.
I was also told that it would be $199 out of the gate with a 2 year contract.
I don't know what to think.
UPDATE:
They have a glitch in the system. I called back and was assured that it was available today and that it is only $99 w/2 year commitment
after the htc evo
all new phones now looks like the thc evo.. whether htc, samsung or lg or motorola they all look the same now.. hahaha
Actually, I think we can thank the HD2 for that form factor ๐ after that, most phones have the 4.3" screen.
Yeah.... but the Inspire is a much nicer phone and on a much better network. I dont care about the front facing camera. Im getting the 4G speeds in Houston and love it. the 4G network is much bigger than Sprints 4G network here.

No International 3G/DATA???
It's lacking 2100 mhz........What's that about?
That is a puzzler. That's what the official specs say, though.

Where was this 8months ago?
ATT barely putting out a Android contender. Very late to party especially since EVo been out for awhile.
So here's the HD2 finally running an official Android OS. What's with these companies anymore? What's so ground breaking about releasing a phone that's hasn't really changed that much? XDA developers and users worldwide have basically made this phone ...

1239mah???
Was that a typo?
Most likely not, HTC is infamous for not putting the proper battery's in their devices.
The stock incredible/Evo battery is only 1300 I believe
The 9 key is next to the 0. It was a typo. Sorry. Fixed.

Not much memory
Wow, only 4 GB internal and comes with an 8 GB MicroSD. Not much memory there. Wonder why they did not make it with more?
The Thunderbolt for VZ has 8 GB built in and comes with a 32 GB MicroSD card. Far more memory.
They're offering it for a really good price. Memory is the first thing to get cut when they want to make it cheap. At least it's expandable.
HSPA+ vs HSPA+ w backhual
As phonescoop has pointed out 4G is not yet perfect and is not available in most parts of the country. One additional problem that at&t has is that they have updated their HSPA towers to HSPA+ but are still implementing backhaul to the majority of these towers. Without the backhaul the upgrade to + will not have much of an increase in speed (if any). That means that even though the software from the tower tells the phone that it's on + most places might actually be running regular HSPA speeds. As he said in the article that can still be 5mbps or better, which can compete with or beat sprint's wimax. The down side is that HSPA can also be as low as 1mbps which is down with Verizon (yes there 3G because they do not have 4g on any phone at this...
