Good move

RIM definitely needs to expand their app market (especially for free apps). I just hope that the Alien Dalvik project isn't open sourced or else RIM is probably just going to steal it and claim credit. Lets hope that RIM is more classy than that.
It's an even better move for Nokia. I have an N900 and I am desperately awaiting this so I can use all of the Android apps that my mom is using on her Vibrant on my amazing and aged device.

There's LOTS AND LOTS of money to be made off of hosting an app store. Google gets what 30% of every app that's sold on their market? RIM will miss out on big profits from this move.

Then again, what else can they really do?
