It's cool. Whenever I am going to do something wrong I will just buy a pre-paid. It was one thing when we didn't know those *Bleepards* were storing our data. Now that we know...no sweat.
Even still, I'll buy it from a store that asks for customer name and address, and give them someone else's information to further cover my tracks.
Even better yet, whenever I plan my next mega-crime, I will just disable my gps, 3g and 4g services, so the best the government can do is put me within MILES of the location using the cell tower information. Oh wait that won't work because the FBI can...

To listen in on cell phone calls is no different from listening in on landline calls, it requires a warrant and court order...which requires probable cause, i.e. evidence that your phone calls may provide evidence about criminal activity.

Retail Stores, realestate markets, car dealers, gun dealers and even the government, have our records on file. Just about everything we purchase, have our records on file. Obviously, some exceptions to the rule are always present.
However, my point is that, our communication industry has not been immune to this practice. It has been widely known for years that the ability to track, trace calls and resurrect call info, could be done and has been done for years.
Unfortunately, crime has become more high tech today. With the major percentage of individuals using cellphones today, it would only be the current path to have our data records on file as well. This is the new way to communicate.

Don't throw android under the bus with apple when has always android made the user aware of location when apple didn't. I don't recall an uproar over android or users demanding location be removed from the os.
