Looking at those prices, T-Mobiles $10.00 for 2 Gigabytes on a value plan looks mighty tasty.
Yes, it certainly does. 🙂. When the services works it is fast! When it doesnt it is really really slow. You get what you pay for.
That is correct but its also means w/o a phone subsidy so that HTC Amaze is going to cost you $549.99 instead of $229.99. The majority of customers will want the upfront subsidy so you should probably use the Value plan model.

Prior Smartphone plan was $15 for up to 200MB, overage rate was $15 for an additional 200 MB (even if you only went over minimally).
