My mom has the Sanyo 8200 in a market that is predominatly a cingular and verizon town. Sprint gets service there but it is not reall marketed. I used to have the sanyo 8200 and I would not get good service there, but now I have the 4500 and I get great service there. The problem is that my mom has the 8200 and does not get good service. What should I do, do I need to try and get her a 4500. Could I take it to the Sprint store and ask for a diffrent phone like a 7300 which is the same price?

when you say good service do you mean you have more bars of service? or do you mean her calls are fuzzy and being dropped?

The calls are being dropped and she just can't really get bars of service. We can be riding through the same parts of Rome Ga and I will have full service and she will have half service. I have taken the phone to a sprint store already, but they said that there was nothing wrong with the phone. I have also read some complaints about the 8200 being the Sanyo phone that gets the worst reception.

with the new sanyo phones (the 8200 on) the signal indecator on the phone has been tuned down. for example you can have a 4500 and an 8200 side by side the 4500 will have 4 bars and the 8200 will only show 2 but the rality will be they are both receaveing the same amount of signal the 8200 has just been adjusted to read it diferently.

the reason for this is because all of the other manufacturers were complaining about sanyos reading higher signal than there phones were. as a result sprint has mad sanyo adjust there phones so they will read same as any other sprint phone.

your 8200 probubly is receaveing the same signal as your 4500. that is why i asked if it was dripped calls or just showing different signal levels

So then my question is then should I try to get my mom another phone, or what should I do. The area is Rome, GA, and the zip code is 30165

to be honest i am really disappointed with both the 8200 and the 7300 they actually are not much better then any of the samsungs. they are not bad when it comes to signal but they are not that much greater.

sanyo used to be head and shoulders above every one else but now they seam equal to every one else.

I was disappointed with the 8200 as well, I guess if this merger between Sprint and nextel take place then the reception will get a lot better since Rome is a big nextel town. But that is at least going to take another year for it to be complete.
